even if the deaths of his father and basil has changed himself as a person, there are things about him that never seemed to change. his love for cooking and how annoyed he gets when he sees a messy kitchen is one thing. the second thing is how he was good with cats with the fact that he’s had one before he moved out of his parent’s house. and, even if he tries to keep it lowkey most of the time, his love of anime and manga still sticks around with him.
anime and manga played in an important role in his life, to be honest. when said like that, it could sound embarrassing. but it’s the fact that both of those were reasons why he said yes to aku when offered. and even if he mostly regrets the immediate approval to the contract sometimes, he still does watch anime from time to time and read manga when he has nothing else to read or before he goes to bed.
so, as expected, he was at a bookstore at the manga section. he was looking for the latest volume of one of his favorites and, he had to admit, it took a lot of looking because he kept on looking past it. when he finally noticed it, he smiles to himself as he notices that this was the last volume available. but right as he’s about to get it, he notices another hand ready to grab it before it stops as the other person notices his hand.
it’s at this point when his mood gets lowered just by a little bit. he looks up to see who his rival for the last volume was, only to see a girl with long, brown hair with some blonde highlights. he tells himself to act mature because he was sure he’s never seen this person before. plus, the most appropriate way to approach competition was to act mature before attacking. “oh, sorry,” he says with a forced smile that was meant to look sweet. he’s not sure if it’s working or not, since he’s somehow used to looking at others with a scowl on his face. “but you’re gonna have to wait ‘til your next visit. this volume’s mine.”
