GAME

from this meme ! game — write our characters playing video games together

with more and more free time nowadays, kenta has taken to branching out a bit more. despite recieving many warnings against staying away from the heroes, he's gone looking for "the good ones" again -- hoping that, through befriending some of them, he'll have a good network of friends to keep him safe. 

and jimin definitely seemed like one of the good ones, or at least not one of the bad -- he's kinda quiet, and doesn't really talk about himself very much but when kenta first meets him while wandering the heroes' training area, he doesn't get bad vibes at all. 

it took some convincing to get jimin to invite him to his house to play games, but thankfully kenta can be both stubborn and persuasive when he wants to be; and kenta is fun enough company that jimin doesn't seem to mind... that much. not at first, anyway. 

"oops! i swear i didn't mean to win again," kenta says sheepishly, watching his little monkey character act out his victory dance for the fourth time in a row, while jimin's character is off to the side, comically dejected. super monkey ball: banana blitz is a fairly old game for the very outdated wii, but it's one of kenta's favourites, for reasons that his friends can't fathom. maybe something about the bright, colourful atmosphere and light-hearted party games is enticing to him, and it's always fun to play with friends. 

jimin blinks at the screen, and he shrugs. "i guess this is what i get for playing games with the luck card," he's not really being serious at all, but kenta can't help but feel a little bad anyway.

kenta fidgets with the wrist-strap on his remote. "you're right, it's not really fair, we should've picked a game more based on skill than chance..." kenta likes playing games, but it's probably not the same knowing he's much more likely to succeed. 

but when jimin looks at him, there's a small smile on his face. "skill, huh? sounds like i need to beat you up in smash bros."

kenta's eyes light up. he's glad that jimin doesn't want to give up playing with him despite the unfair gameplay -- he was worried jimin wasn't having fun, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. a relieved and excited smile follows suit, and he picks him his remote again. "sure, let’s go!”

     he's no stranger to the mall, nor is he a stranger to his reasons for being there; on any other day, it may be to steal some of the latest tech, but today? well, it's something much more entertaining.

     it takes a bit of searching before he spots the object of his entertainment: a boy with short stature, lightly colored hair, and a tell-tale ring on his finger. he can't stop a smirk from settling into his features as he takes a few steps closer.

     “jimin-ah!” he calls, obnoxiously loud and informal just to pick at the elder’s nerves, waiting all too patiently for a response.

     ( y’see, to jeongguk, this is a game — as is life, though he isn't here to preach — that he loves to play. he hasn't lost yet, and he doubts he ever will; after all, it's his game and his rules — not counting the times jimin gets angry enough to throw him off a cliff and he finally steps down, at least. )

     “jimin-ah,” he tries again when he realizes his call fell on deaf ears, “i’m a customer, aren't i? isn't it rude to ignore me?”

beach

from this meme ! beach —write our characters going to the beach together. 

as the monster dissipates from sight, disappearing over the water as slow, black waves lap up against the shore, leon lets his shoulders droop, weapons hanging at his sides. "jesus christ." the monster wasn't particularly creepy, but it was... weird. leon hasn't quite adjusted to seeing stuff so surreal right in front of his eyes just yet, stuff straight out of a picasso painting or a weird japanese RPGs ( not that he would know, he's definitely not a nerd who plays japanese RPG games ) ... though nothing is worse than the monster he faced on his contract day, these things can get fairly unnerving.

it helps to have someone with him.

with the back of a gloved hand, leon wipes a bead of sweat from his brow, turning to face the other hero. "that thing was probably the ugliest monster i've seen all month. did you see its eyes? awful." jimin looks fairly unphased, or at least he's not paying much attention to either leon or the monster they just defeated, looking out at the water instead.

leon goes quiet, following his gaze. the moon reflects perfectly onto the water, creating a white streak of light leading almost right to their toes. it's pretty, he thinks, surprised at the calm, pleasant feeling spreading in his chest.

well, hey, maybe there are some things worth fighting monsters for -- maybe for every horrifying, nightmare-inducing thing leon will see in his lifetime, he'll get to see something beautiful: a calm ocean on a full moon, a city skyline at night, the first snowfall of the year.

"we should go swimming," leon pipes up suddenly.

jimin looks at him. "in november?" he asks, his tone somewhat amused, both eyebrows raised. leon's face heats up. oh yeah. it isn't that cold yet, but definitely not warm enough to swim.

leon feels rather stupid, and he scowls lightly. "i was kidding, don't give me that look..."  he wasn't kidding, but the moment is ruined now anyway. he turns away from the water. "whatever -- i don't like swimming anyway."

HATE

hate —   write our character’s hating each other. 

the moment he looks at that face, he feels something negative stir up inside of him. 

he wasn’t sure what it was, but it made him feel sick to his stomach. such a face makes him feel nauseous for some reason, but he wasn’t sure how or why. he would’ve known the reason why he disliked jimin so much since he had went back to the past after experiencing the future. hell, he doesn’t even remember if he hated jimin back then. a surprise since he’s the only one of the two who knows the most. 

but here he is wondering one thing: why do the both of them dislike each other? 

it’s not even hateful conversations. it’s rather them just refusing to look at each other, much less be around each other. every time they did, they would only glare. or at least, ricky would. the feeling of hating park jimin felt so familiar to him and taehyung was unsure of why. there had to be a reason, but there wasn’t one he could think of at the spot. what did he do to deserve this? what did ricky do to deserve the same treatment? 

all he knew was that jimin was not to be trusted, nor was he to be good company around. 

he wasn’t going to be responsible for how others think of him, but for now he wanted to stay far away from him as possible. he wouldn’t want to be infected by his ignorance.

sketching

drabble meme: onesketching: write your character drawing mine or vice versa ( possibly canon, otherwise au ; whatever you decide! )

sometimes spiderlily and nightshade resemble sports teams– primarily in the constant repeated exercises, but also in the fact that sometimes, they make you sit on the bench. 

kana resents being a bench warmer anytime, and she usually isn’t there, but today, she can sit on the bleachers of the soccer field rookie practice is taking place on today with pride.

“so, why are you here?” she asks the boy– and only other person present on the bench –beside her, as he sketching something in a notebook.

“sunggyu hyung said i was freaking out too much and needed to relax,” he explains, and kana holds back a snort. 

“i punched a member of nightshade in the face,” kana offers in turn– almost brags, like she’s trying to one up him.

“yeah, i know,” jimin replies diplomatically. “why did you punch him? i couldn’t hear what went down from here.”

“he told me that i should keep my mouth shut and do something i actually know something about, like cleaning up the targets everyone knocked down.”

“oh. yikes.”

kana only nods in agreement, resting her chin on her open palm as she observes practice with disinterest. to her absolute delight, her new rival on nightshade is currently on his ass in the grass after losing a sparring match to a spiderlily girl with a great sword, of all things.

it doesn’t take long for her to grow bored, and she cranes her neck to glance at jimin’s drawing as it comes together.

“oh my god, are you really drawing me punching him in the face?”

“yes.”

poem

first timeline.

rena doesn’t know the hero on the ground in front of her, but she knows that he can still be saved. his injuries aren’t as bad as they could be, and though he’s passed out – either from pain or blood loss, she can’t tell – as long as she works quickly and prevents infection he should survive. 

she’s just glad they made it to high ground before he passed out on her. she probably wouldn’t have been able to get him up here when dragging him as dead weight, and she’s left enough people behind already since the world went to shit. she’s glad that at least she should be able to save him, whoever he is. 

( a part of her still wonders if it’s even worth saving him. what’s the point of surviving in this terrible world anymore? but she ignores those thoughts, acting against them because she refuses to lose hope. she’s a hero for a reason, after all. )

when the wound in his stomach is finally wrapped and no longer bleeding, rena sits back, unable to see any more visible injuries. satisfied for now, she allows herself to breathe, looking out over the burning valley they’d just escaped, leaving behind a group of the hanged man’s monsters. she can hear their screams as they burn in the fires they set. in the fires that nearly trapped them both. 

words come into her mind, from another time, another world. she says them aloud, even though she knows the boy is still unconscious, even though she knows there’s no one left to hear her. 

“some say the world will end in fire,some say ice.from what i’ve tasted of desire,i hold with those who favor fire.”

in front of her, the boy speaks, his voice barely more than a whisper, but just audible to rena, who jumps at the sound.

“but if it had to perish twice,i think i know enough of hateto know that for destruction iceis also greatand would suffice.”

they sit together, two strangers whose only knowledge of the other is that they’re both heroes, both part of the last line of defense for a world that’s already dead. maybe they should have given up already. maybe they should have just let themselves die with the monsters down there – it’s not like there’s much left to live for. 

but if they’re the last sparks of hope in an increasingly dark world, then that’s enough reason to hold on. that’s enough reason to survive.
