18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.

I think Analysand is the only fic that has alternate versions! I would say some of my original fiction has alternate versions, but that's really all retooling, not a new story or whatever.

25. What part of writing is the most fun?

Besides being finished with the writing, I really love the planning stage. Outlining and the first skeleton draft. I love setting up a good plot and making sure to put in all the highlights to work up to and work around.

Hi~! I have never read Any fanfiction before (out of worry they’ll give me false hopes and such), but I’m thinking about trying some out! I see so much great writing everywhere (so much creativity omg I can’t-), and I’m not sure where to start - do you have any obiyuki recommendations?? (Have a nice day~!) Thank you!!

Oh boy, this really depends on what you’re looking for! Most obiyuki fanfic you can’t go wrong with. Do you want canon? AUs? Do you want angst? fluff? rom com shenanigans? Do you want M&E rated or would you prefer T and below?

@bubblesthemonsterartist has a pretty good rec list that’s a few years out of date but hits a lot of the popular categories in the fandom, as well as another one for rare pairs that I’d also recommend taking a look at.

I have a many, many years out of date fic rec list I wrote for “what to read after Seven Suitors,” but I still stand by every rec on it. I also have an equally old self-rec list that still contains some of my favorites.

The joke in this fandom is that we have a fic for everything, so if you have anything specific in mind, let me know! I’d be happy to make a focused rec list

9. best television series?

*consults list of shows* Hmmm... HMMMMMMM. This is a hard question to answer because my backlog was so significant that I had a lot of QUALITY shows to catch up on. I am terribly torn here. I think, like, if I am going for the highest quality of emotions inspired, Good Omens had to be my favorite. I never rewatch shows, but the MINUTE that show was over, I knew I could watch it again from start to finish.

17. what are some hobbies that you developed?

I just answered this one for Lee, but you know what? I am a complex human being with more than one interest, lol.

This year I also continued to develop my writing. I make the scary choice to begin the process of turning a favorite hobby into a profession by submitting at least one story per month to a publication (no dice so far, but this is part of the growing experience) and working with a critique group (best choice of 2020). I’ve become more comfortable with writing OCs and worldbuilding and ALSO... I may or may not have written some fic for fandoms outside AnS. They’re not published, but like... they will be. Soon. >:3c

- Oh no, I’m in trouble, cuz I never listen to new stuff, only old stuff XD ummm, ehmmm, hmmmm... oh wait, Northkid dropped a new album this year and their main song was a real kick

- This has admittedly been the big reread year for me, as in, I don’t have the energy or willpower to delve into something new, and went safe whenever the itch to read actually struck (my will to read has seen a large plummet too over the past few years)

But I will plug the Witcher book series just because~

Childhood friends:

Yes! This trope has tons of applications. Sure I did one of the worst most nightmarish childhood friends situations ever in my fic, but the opportunities for fluff and cases of mistaken identity and all-around tropey goodness are endless. If it's played absolutely straight though, it can turn into Hallmark movie levels of predictable and I check out.

Found family:

S-tier, you don't even know, doesn't get old, can only be done badly if everything else about the piece is bad anyway. Fulfilling for anyone and everyone, no matter who you are or where you're from.

Hi!! Link Click is a donghua (anime) original, so the manhua you're reading is based on it and covers a different story. It's more of a spinoff and doesn't tie into the main plot, it's just like bonus material if you want more slice of life content. You'll get the most plot and the best writing by watching season 1, season 2, and the Bridon arc in that order! (The chibi shorts are optional to watch. Chronologically they take place after season 1, but tbh I watched them after season 2 wrapped and didn't feel like I was getting something explained I'd missed before.)

I think Wrong (Apartment) Number is the only title I didn't steal from a Taylor Swift song this year so let's go with that.

Hmm. Probably the obiyuki con artist au? It was only 534 words.

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

I'm quite partial to, "Obi barely knew what Obi was planning," from the fake relationship au. That's how I like to write him: quick-witted and reckless.

Also, "It was raining outside; maybe she’d just lay on the grass and take her fate like a turkey looking up," from this Yona fic purely because I heard the myth that turkeys will drown if they look up in rain when I was like seven years old and it stuck with me for whatever reason, so this bonkers line was a joke from me to me.
