Father Mulcahy is weirdly progressive for a priest in the 50s, any time sex comes up (which it does a lot, Mash is fucking horny) he just basically turns his eye and pretends he doesn't hear it. He's canonically Irish catholic, he has anger issues and boxes to help with it, he's punched people before and got so upset about it (Catholic guilt feels real here). His sister is a Nun who plays the trumpet i think? She plays an instrument I just forget which one, and also does basketball apparently. He loses his hearing at the end of the show and announces that he is going to work with Deaf children when he gets back to the states. There's a whole episode where he feels guilty about never having been to the front during the war and truly seen the horrible action, so he drives up there against the Colonel's wishes and ends up saving a man's life by getting directions from the surgeons over the phone, cuz hes not a doctor at all!
