Also, western leftists need to shut the fuck up about the history of communism in CEE countries. Yes, there are complicated/nuanced aspects to it, and yes there is some nostalgia for the socialist system, but instead of looking into where that nostalgia is coming from or what specific aspects of life in communist times people are being nostalgic for, westerners often just go "look at this statistic, this proves that living in a Soviet puppet state is better than living in an independent democracy, and all the eastern europeans loved living under Soviet rule!"

Poland's left charts its own path over Russia's war in Ukraine

The left in Europe's East has split from its Western counterparts in their response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Yeah, I'm not surprised it's finally happened, a split like this has been a long time coming.

Also, I didn't even know Eric Edman existed until I read this but the quotes of him in this article make me want to throw a chair at him:

CEE leftists haven't betrayed you by refusing to "both sides" the war between an imperial power and a country that fought long and hard to break free of them. And we're not the ones making it "difficult to align on this topic," that would be the western leftists who are more focused on criticising NATO for somehow "provoking" Russia into invading another country than on criticising Russia for invading another country.

Western Leftists like Edman are the reason this split has happened.
