Everybody knows what's on the right. It is ginger. On the left side is something I get-to-know when I started to cook. It is called cekur or lesser galangal or kencur or proh hom or dusol 😝 or what do you call it again? Ginger's cousin? Yeah. It's ginger's cousin. More to galangal family. It's Kaempferia galanga L. Aunty seblah rumah told me that her mom eat this during confinement last time. It is as good as ginger. Mom told me it is great when cooked with chicken. Guess what, I add that into soy sauce chicken last night. Hoping that husband don't smell it at all 😂 I did some research, it was saying that the rhizome is somehow carminative, stimulant, expectorant and diuretic. It is used to treat sore throat, fever, inflammation, rheumatism, indigestion, coughs, acne and sore eyes. Ow look!! It has lots of medicinal values😱 no wonder mom always put this in her chicken dishes.
