sleep
It is true, lately this is true, and if I was a squirrel and another squirrel was holding and reading fairy tales probably it would help.

they float
I do not have so many words to go with this one. Except I want to make cards of it. To go in my shop. It is enough, what it makes with it’s lines. Just simple day, with balloons. Just going about business. With balloons. Trudging home. With balloons. Going up the stairs. With balloons. Going to sleep. With balloons. Some string in your hand as you fall asleep, the balloon quietly floats. Floats floats floats. They float.
future books
I have been starting works on the next next squirrel book. Celebration Squirrels the second which will be called ‘Warm’.
I just started doing a bunch of rough ideas and NOW I SHOW YOU THEM I SHOW THEM TO YOUR EYES AND YOUR FACE. And your little beating bird heart.
You may or may not knows that Celebration Squirrels are really good at knitting. They do it in teams, holding the long knitting needles between them and one shouting instructions with a tiny megaphone much like people when they row row row. Whilst they are very good at knitting, they are less good at knowing human sizings.
I had this idea that the squirrels made big vats of winter stew and fed all the woodland animals but I don't think that will be in the book. But I like the idea of them doing that. Winter squirrel soup kitchen for lost Christmas animals.
I had ideas of squirrels wanting to keep your mittens warm so they get in them to warm them up but they are so cosy that they fall asleep and then when you see them sleeping they are so sweet that you leave them there and go out with cold hands. I like the idea of one of them with just legs sticking out, or an x-ray of how how the squirrel fit curled up inside.
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE because it is MY FAVOURITE thing to do and it's the SQUIRRELS FAVOURITE THING TO DO when it is cold and and you build a massive duvet nest and get in it and read all the books. Maybe the giant duvet nest will have legs and feet sticking out at odd places. It sort of looks like a big wad of gum. A wad of gum with squirrels stuck in.
squirrels in print
Hello nice mice, folks and poke,
It has been quiet here on the wires as as because of mixtures of injuries and work. and sleep. sleep is important. BUT AMIDST those such things I had my born day, AND the day after my born day I saw this what felt a bit like an extra born day present.
OH LOOK IT IS CELEBRATION SQUIRRELS IN THE CAMBRIDGE EDITION WRITTEN ABOUT BY RUTHIE COLLINS IN HER ART INSIDER COLUMN
OH LOOK IT IS MY HAND AND MY BEDSHEET AND THE BOOK THAT CAME OUT OF MY BRAIN AND MY HAND and a pen probably a pen too. The text underneath the picture is not to do with the picture but the juxtaposition is a bit pleasing.
WELL that’s a bit nice that is. THAT IS NICE. Thank you Ruthie. Warms and laughs for your October times also.
CELEBRATION SQUIRRELS BOOK
It is here finally finally LOOK AT IT’S SPLENDOR
It is a tiny beautiful book with a story in it called ‘Kind’. It is how and what the squirrels help you, with all their kindnesses.
Including the cover it is 6 pages, printed on grey card (it may be a different colour on the next print run) and it is packed with a whole 21 SQUIRRELS. That is a lot of squirrels.
Everyone that has read it so far has made a series of ahhhh sounds and laughed with deep chest chuckles or small silky giggles. Which pleases me.
TA DAAAAA. You can buys one for yourself, to keep and slip into pockets for carrying kindness with you or to give to a friendling or beau to give them a kindness, to put on your bedside table to make you warm before you sleep.
