Do you think Fiyero will ever be turned back into human form post musical?

Honestly? (This is going to kill me to answer, but...)

...No, I don’t think he will. Madam Morrible is very clear that spells are un-reversible, and this point is hammered home multiple times throughout the show. Presumably, the Gale Force tortured Fiyero’s human body to the point of death, and the only thing that saved him was Elphie’s spell. Even if that spell is broken somehow, my understanding is that he would most likely die soon after due to the battered state of his human body.

I know some fans theorise that Elphie could cast another spell ‘on top of’ the previous one to make him human again. I like this theory! I want to believe in it! But my gut tells me that if this is a possibility, it would be hinted at in the show...and it isn’t. Case in point - when Elphaba sees Fiyero’s scarecrow face, she doesn’t stroke it and say ‘don’t worry, we’ll find a way to change you back’ - instead, she repeats back to him the same assurance that he gives her earlier, that he is ‘still beautiful’. 

Also, I know Schwartz had trouble convincing Maguire of the ‘Elphie lives’ ending initially, but Maguire eventually came around to the idea, as he felt that ‘Elphie flees Oz with a scarecrow-Fiyero and never sees Glinda again’ was just as tragic as his original ‘Elphie dies’ ending. But the ending definitely loses a huge part of that tragedy if Elphaba can just snap her fingers and change Fiyero back.

Fiyeraba will remain my OTP until the day I die, and the ending they’re given has always been so painful to me, so I’d love to hear if anyone else has an opposing viewpoint on this. What do you think, @massivepetspuppiesllama?

I have an answer for your "dancing bears, painted wings" anon! "Dancing bears" were literally a THING in Russia - they'd capture Siberian cubs and bring them up to entertain the wealthy or in taverns. "Painted wings" is a reference to the Romanov coat of arms, which featured a two-headed eagle (and actually inspired Linda Cho's detailing on Anya's red gown).
