“Not Feeling Well,” Willie Nelson Will Miss Three Outlaw Music Festival Dates; Lukas Nelson to Fill In
- “He is expected to make a quick recovery,” festival organizers say
Under “doctor’s orders” to rest, Willie Nelson will miss the first three dates of his Outlaw Music Festival, event organizers said.
“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” they said in a statement. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”
The announcement came hours before the tour kicks off June 21 in Georgia. Willie’s son Lukas Nelson will instead play with Dad’s Family Band “along with a few guests;” Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and Celisse will perform as scheduled.
Nelson will also miss shows scheduled for June 22 and 23 in North Carolina. He could return as early as June 26 in Virginia.
Headlined by Nelson, the Outlaw Music Festival is scheduled to run through Sept. 20, with different lineups on various legs.
