The second edition of WriteWord61 published on Sunday, July 12, but I added the video today. This weeks post was long time in the making, I found this newspaper clipping in 2003 in my mom’s cedar chest and this renewed my interest in Willia Easter, the grandmother I never met. Then the death of Tajanae Nelson, a young mother of three daughters on Father’s Day June 2020 reminded me of the brutality of my own grandmother’s death and how my mother who was 10 years old at the time, the surviving eldest of two daughters, dealt with the loss exactly 72 years ago in June 1948. So this weekend I gathered enough strength to talk to my mom about the mother who never got to see her grow up. @khlong2012 had never had color so we introduced her to it with a brownish red all over and a fun peekaboo of purple underneath!! We went to highschool together in #CHAMPAIGN and she was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met!
