Hwayoung was very young when she moved to New York but before that, she made a friend that she soon became pen pals with. While she was out exploring the world, there was a boy back home that she would send letters to. More like, papers with crayola doodles, but of course her mom would write whatever she says and attach a proper handwritten letter along with a couple of photos that Hwayoung took with her camera then. She has always loved taking photos of the places she would go to.
Sadly she couldn't see those places with Gwangmin, so she would send photos instead. Along with the letters. Back then when the internet wasn't a thing just yet. She promised him she'll see him in a couple of years and she did, when summer hits off. Funny as it may seem, they managed to stay friends. Now they're both adults, no longer drawing random stuff on pieces of papers waiting for days to weeks for a letter from the other to arrive. They can see each other as much as they want now and talk about life as it is, like today.
“Do you have any idea how heavy my wedding gown was supposed to be?” She asks as she occupies the long couch in his apartment with her unhealthy bag of food, with fries and burgers and a large soda. “Can you imagine it, boo? I could have married the man I didn't love. Worse, I would have walked down the aisle wearing a dress almost half of my weight!” She doesn't know why she started talking about her failed engagement, years ago, but that's just something she wasn't able to talk about with just anyone but Gwangmin wasn't just anyone. He's the closest and longest friend she has ever had. “But sometimes I think it would be nice to be with someone instead of withering away in loneliness.”
