Being Busy Sucks Sometimes...

Been kinda swamped with work lately. It really sucks. I haven’t really had time to hang out with friends, or relax and chill with Valikyrie, or even screw around in the workshop with Russell. I’m hoping I get through this pileup of work soon. I’m really missing all you guys at school!

StartupLife: Things I'm proud & Things I'll never do again

This is more a less of public journal to myself. Ever since I took the plunge into starting a company, I can recount the things that I'm happy I did and the things I promised that I would never do again. As you might have guess, I clearly started with the "Things I won't do again" first.

Things that I'm proud of

Teasing people to break the ice

Flat out asking for money

Going out of my comfort zone and building in a programming language I didn't know too well

Calling people out for poor work

Giving people a chance to prove themselves. 

Loving every minute of my life while I do this

Thing's I'll never do again

I will never bootstrap my startup to the point that I'm broke.

I will never accept "I'll remember to do that" by anyone not even myself

I will never my annoyances eat my energy up.

Forgetting to eat

Judging people by their covers

Not holding others accountable enough.

OK, we crossed out the other two because while they are critically important, #1 is so frequently screwed up and really easy to remedy. One of the greatest predictors of success is good mentorship. And while you might have to go make some new friends, you probably already have most of the people you need IN YOUR NETWORK.
