None of the Roots & 'Shrooms Gang could play outside today, because it was raining, windy, and there was even a little hail. By afternoon, the thunder and lightning was pretty intense. Most sulked around, disappointed, but not Halfred. He's a pluviophile, someone who finds joy and comfort in rainstorms, as well as a ceraunophile, someone who loves thunderstorms. He was giddy with delight at all the thunder and the sound of driving rain against the house. I left the back door open for him so he could indulge himself, and he quite happily enjoyed the weather for most of the day. =)
OMG first thunderstorm of this year outside
⬆ literally me when thunder
For all the dangers, hazards & disasters that the storm brings.
I can't find it in myself to hate it.
The life that the clouds show through bursts of light & astounding loudness. The way that it feels as though it's trying to reach the earth below it. The roaring energy of the heavens that is said to be the will of God. It's alluring to me.
Its nature & its mystery, its message & its art, it calls to me. It lures me into the heart of its wake waiting to show its destruction.
Ceraunophile.
Ceraun is from the Greek word Keraunos, meaning thunderbolt.
A ceraunophile is a person who loves lightning and thunder.
Like Jiang Cheng.
she struck the exterior of my body with the dance of the storm, leaving behind a thunderous hum, making my skin hotter than the surface of the sun. i just hope this ceraunophile remains alive after every touch, i just hope i'm lucky blessed enough to be touched by you every time.
To say I’m a fan of thunderstorms is an understatement. I CRAVE dark skies and the clouds rolling the wind howling leaves blowing the far off booms and crackles getting louder and closer and when those first few drops touch your skin and moments later you’re being drenched by a beautiful down pour and you feel as if your soul and mind and body have been cleansed… it’s been pointed out to me that I also get a Wednesday Addams-esque smile when storms approach - the way the air changes and you can smell the coming rain makes me nothing short of ecstatic.
I tell you all of this to share the below meme that had my work wife cackling and nearly peeing herself yesterday trying to gasp out ‘THIS IS SO YOU’ ….
