Delicious Party Precure Episode 29 Review - CooKingdom Come
Maybe it’s just me but Kome-Kome having sudden powers feels too convenient for the sake of plot. What’s next? Time travel? The power to heal the dead? Turning into a mecha suit? Why are these Kome-Kome powers being brought up so suddenly and why does Pam-Pam know all of this and not Mem-Mem?
Though, it was nice to finally see what CooKingdom is like. A lot of it revolve around food. There are clouds made of cotton candy, flowers that bloom rice balls and rivers that have side dishes floating around to be picked up. It’s a whimsical fairy-tale land for foodies. The kingdom also trains aspiring Cook Fighters. Though, the Cook Fighter lore isn’t explored all too much since we only really see Rosemary and Fennel. They were talking about the Special Delicious Stone the Bundoru Gang has and worries about it. The ending seems interesting with how Rosemary talks about how Cinnamon is innocent but Fennel doesn’t seem to eager about it. Speaking of Fennel, he doesn’t seem like a bad guy with how he’s looking out for Cerfuil, but it’s always the ones you least expect to be the villains. I’m still holding onto the theory that he’s a surprise twist villain.
Cerfuil is one of those aspiring Cook Fighters. She admires the Precures and her senior Cook Fighters and hopes to be like them one day, but the downside is that she’s a huge coward. It was nice seeing her go from being scared to being courageous. She really did save the day by recognizing that Secretoru isn’t someone she knows and getting to become a full fledged Cook Fighter to help the Precures in distress. You know, why is it that the Precures are competent but become incompetent in order to give someone the spotlight. For example, Precious is always competent, but some situations has her as the victim in order for Black Pepper to swoop in to save her. It feels weird at times.
Speaking of Secretoru, she was quite smart for going into CooKingdom to snatch the Recipeppis. However, the effects of the theft when it comes to her isn’t shown. Though, I do wonder how she managed to break into the Kingdom of all places? Is Godatz a Cook Fighter? Is my theory of Fennel being the twist villain actually making sense? Though, I do wonder if she’s a native of CooKingdom. Narcistoru didn’t seem to thrilled to be taken to the kingdom, hinting that he could be a native there, but they never explain anything in this show. I want to know more about these villains not named Gentlu!
Though, what surprised me the most is that no one is mentioning about Black Pepper. I would be concerned about a rogue Cook Fighter not certified by the kingdom wandering around Oishina Town, even if he’s doing good deeds. I guess they want to keep him a secret as he’s linked to the elusive Cinnamon?
While this was a good episode, I do wish that CooKingdom stuff was shown earlier. For a story that has a fantasy land as a premise, they’re not doing a good job utilizing the otherworld for world building. I assume that was fixed in Hirogaru Sky Precure where the otherworld aspects were handled much better as we know a lot about Sky Land and its culture early on. What’s next for our Precures?
