Classification of biological sex into two categories, or into categories in general, is a social construct. Classification of biological sex is also riddled with errors wrt intersex people, and in general the idea that somebody born with a uterus has XX chromosomes, no penis, will develop breasts, etc.
Intersex is caused by mess ups in biological code. Intersex is determined via hormones, genes, sex characteristics, and biology.
Biologically there is Male and Female as the main sexes and intersex as derivitation of them.
It was in fact intersex people who had helped determine and prove biological sex and what causes male and female anatomy and what causes intersex anatomy.
SRY-Genes and tesosterone along with the Y chromosome heavily influence what you’re born as. People who are XX but are born with male anatomy had been found due to an SRY gene attaching to one of the X chromosomes.
Peopel with XY who are born with female anatomy (or nonfunctioning male anatomy) have been found to happen due to SRY genes not activating and other factors.
It’s not oppressive or evil to recognize biology as a thing. It’s not intersexist to know that intersex isn’t extremely common and is caused by genetic caode and mapping.
You’re thinking of Gender, classification of gender in two categories. Gender and gender identity is broad however Biological sex isn’t.
Considering the majority of people born with XX chromosomes are female and grow female organs and such and vice versa with XY of course there’s assumptions. What you’re born as doesn’t always mean what you’ll identify as or be.
