mourning the vaquita. it may be too late to save them from extinction, but for many other animal species, it isn’t.

i dont want to jump the gun again like i did with risso's. even though at the time risso's felt very right looking back i feel the feelings were misplaced. i had just learned i was a beluga and while riding that high found risso's as well. i had never considered cetaceans at all up to that point so i had yet to properly sort all my feelings. i will never say i made the wrong choice in confirming something too early. mistakes are part of the journey. but i will try not to do it when i have my head on straight, if only for the sake of not feeling like im lying to myself and others.
if nothing else i think hector's dolphins are absolutely gorgeous and may be my new favourite kind of dolphin, at least for now haha. their fins are so so cute and rounded and i envy how stocky they are. i might use them as a motivation to work out more, as i myself am on the smaller side. hell, their length is about my height. its silly but it feels very fit. i tend to wear those colors as well.
im looking for more resources on them to get a better feel for them, so if anyone has suggestions let me know :)
tumblr seems to not enjoy killer whales showing skin
J50 Scarlet was announced gone by the CWR I really don’t have words for the whole situation anymore and I don’t know what to feel. These whales are starving to death and it’s not like we can’t do anything about this. We can breach the dams. We can reduce noise pollution. But the wild mass of people is filled with general apathy and if that doesn’t change, if we don’t get up and do what we have to do, those whales will go extinct far too soon. I drew this piece of J50 Scarlet and her mom J16 Slick for @derangedhyena-delphinidae‘s SRKW zine “Those Who Remain” back in December. Scarlet was a small beacon of hope when she was born in late 2014 into this ailing community. I can just hope that she will be the last SRKW to die of preventable causes.
tbh, our theory makes a lot of sense, especially considering Keiko's travel path. He moved from Iceland in the summer, as the Northern Isles orca do. Off he pops to find them! But he didn't go far enough down to Shetland. No, instead he went to the Faroes and who could he have met there? Why, the North Sea orca!
They like to follow trawler boats because well, the fishies. And hop skip, Keiko is used to following boats from his time in Iceland, yes? So he swims with the North Sea guys but when they hop off, he keeps following the boat because well, he's used to it, no? And doop di do, he ends up in a Norwegian Fjord.
when people blame Balckfish for the most random shit and I'm just here like
...it's literally just a movie, what do you want for it???
whenever I see a picture of Tilikum in the med pool, I always think about how big he looks and then that a West Coaster would never fit in there
and I mean, I'm not being dramatic, Floppy Fin would not be able to fit in the med pool
I don't think people realise how loud construction of BWP will be. Piled foundations are most likely going to be used and they are loud, especially if they're really deep. And I don't mean loud as in some kids down the road got a really loud stereo. I mean like somebody building a new house inside your house
