Cetona is the most prehistoric village in Italy, inhabited for over 50,000 years.

At the foot of Mount Cetona, among the hills of the Valdichiana Senese, lies a village whose past reaches far beyond its medieval houses. This is Cetona, a small Tuscan town renowned for its extraordinary archaeological heritage: the caves within its territory were already inhabited during the Middle Paleolithic, around 50,000 years ago, when Neanderthals frequented the area, leaving behind tools and animal remains.
