Cezaire - The Answer
I finally scoped out this Anita Baker remix, that's my Friday sorted
Cézaire & Katuchat - Paradise (feat. Nori).
Shouts: Majestic Casual
Premiere: Duñe & Twenty9 - Myself (Roche Musique)
Parisian imprint Roche Musique made its name by pursuing a fresh approach to the classic French Touch sound, with their first .WAVE compilation celebrating the slick production of artists such as Crayon, FKJ and founder Jean ‘Cezaire‘ Janin. Now the follow-up, .WAVE II, is set to underline Roche Musique’s growing diversity.
Released next Friday, .WAVE II showcases Roche Musique favourites such as Kartell and Darius alongside newcomers such as Tommy Jacob and Pyramid, with each track exclusive to the compilation. Today, MusicMap gives you a sneak preview of one of them. ‘Myself’ is a smooth cocktail of sensual synths and soulful vocals stirred together by Duñe and Twenty9, which lands somewhere in the golden space between Nick Murphy and James Blake. Take a long sip here:
“Twenty9 and I went to the same school when we were teenagers”, Duñe reveals. “We always knew that each other made music but never really had the chance to work together. Two years ago we had the opportunity to work on a project at Red Bull Studio and we were really happy with the result, [so] after that we continued making music together.”
Let’s hope we hear more from them soon…
.WAVE II drops on March 9th – pre-order digital and vinyl here.
