Deja Vu
Coldflash Week Fall 2019: Different First Meeting
When the Oculus blew, Len didn’t die. Instead, he woke back up in the body of his past self on the night before his first ever run-in with the Flash. Now Len has a chance to do it all over again; what changes would he make this time around?
(I have a lot of edits and fics for this ship as well as destiel, sterek, etc. My masterposts can be found here. If you’re on a desktop site then you can just jump on over to my page to view the rest of my coldflash edits.)
A full fanfic for this will be on the way soon (hopefully), but please accept the following couple of extracts in the meantime and, if you feel inspired by this post, feel free to run with it yourself! I only ask that you give me credit for the idea.
take the money and run.
Leonard had never been one to give others gifts, neither he nor Lisa ever felt the need to – why should they, when their childhood beneath Lewis’ iron fists meant bruises and scars for their birthday and the stench of booze on Christmas.
It came as a surprise, to both himself and the Scarlet Speedster, when Leonard started to find ways to brighten Barry’s day.
OR; Five times Len tried to be sweet and give Barry a present, and the one time Barry returned the favour.
------
Barry looked from the keys in his hand, brows furrowed in that way Leonard loved - his concentrating face, all scrunched and adorable as he tried to work through a problem - and over to the Camaro parked innocuously on the drive.
“Say again?”
Len’s mouth twitched at the corners as he jerked a thumb towards the car, “I said - why don’t you take her for a test drive.”
“I don’t want a car, Len. I’m like, the last person in Central who’d ever even need one. Look,” The speedster tucked the keys in his pocket, an improvement from the predictions Leonard had had (the keys thrown in his face for his efforts), and sighed so bone deep it shook the other’s slim shoulders. “I really don’t get it, but whatever sort of mind-game you’re trying to play here it’s getting really old, really fast.”
And then pulled at face at himself for the unintended pun, “I mean – I can’t accept this, even if it’s a genuine gift or whatever. It’d be useless to me anyway.”
Len watched the play of emotions across the speedster’s face with a cocked brow, watched it cycle through frustration and into something that bordered on exasperation (he wasn’t bold enough to assume there was a certain amount fondness to it). And then something occurred to him, sudden and with a playful lilt to his tone he asked, “I never thought to check - can you even drive, Barry?”
He was rewarded with a flush of red blossoming across the other’s cheeks, wide hazel eyes turned on him with embarrassed betrayal, “It just never came up okay! Here,” As though they burned his hand to touch, Barry reached into his pocket and thrust the keys back across the space between them, pressed them against Leonard’s chest with force, “Take them back.”
At this point, Leonard couldn’t truly see what the other’s problem was with receiving gifts. He’d seen the West girl hand him things before, clearly in the context of a gift. Cisco, Snow, even that pretty Detective had all given Barry things over the past few months. Albeit they were coffees or dinner, or small novelty gifts with Flash symbols as jokes.
So, it was clearly just Len he refused to accept anything from, and it stung a part of his chest he’d rather not acknowledge.
And the Devil Makes Three
Magic is commonplace, siphoned through the Veil from fae, spirits, and demons by almost everyone on earth. Detective Leonard Snart is the highest level anyone can be born to and chose to become a mage hunter, sworn to protect people from themselves and the magic they can unleash on others.
But all he really wants is a date.
An enemy in the wings conspires against him as he bolsters himself to finally ask out the cute bookstore barista he’s been flirting with for months—Barry Allen, owner of Scarlet’s Corner.
Len doesn’t know Barry is an even rarer Level 0—a Dud, with no magic at all.
The demon about to be unleashed on them is going to find them to be an even more appealing pair than they find each other.

Cffall19 Day Four
Harry Potter AU
“So, Gryffindor, what’s it gonna be? Are you in or not?”
Barry looked at the hand extended towards him. Getting caught could mean being expelled. Stealing a pegasus to go for a ride was so stupid, he though he would smack himself.
But this was Len. He was a Ravenclaw, those were supposed to be smart, weren’t they?
Sure, the guy was a complete dickbag and Barry was surprised he hadn’t been tossed into Slytherin before even sitting on the chair, but it was Len. Barry trusted him.
“If we get caught.. I swear I’m cursing you.”
Len’s face lit up with excitement when Barry took his hand and hauled himself up onto the animal. Barry hummed nervously, unsure of how to keep his balance.
“Wrap your arms around me.”
Barry huffed. “Yeah, and then why don’t I-“ His arms flew out and squeezed around Len’s stomach the second the Pegasus shifted.
Len looked back at him and smirked. “Don’t swallow too many flies on the way up.”
Barry glared at him but held on tightly, pressing his cheek to the other boy’s back and letting his fresh smell invade his brain.
The animal took off and Barry didn’t have the time to change his mind before they were several feet off the ground.
For the title prompts, "On the Edge of the Night" and (surprise! ;)) Coldflash!
I’m killing two birds with one stone on this. After I wrote this, I realized it could also work for the second day prompt for @coldflashweeks.
(Also on AO3.)

Barry shoved at the metal door in front of him as hard as he could, scowling when it didn't have the decency to budge. Snart clapped behind him, slow and really goddamned annoying, and he turned to face him.
"This would a lot faster if you helped me," Barry pointed out, crossing his arms over his chest. Snart was sitting against the far wall, his legs stretched out and his cold gun lying in his lap, looking for all the world like he was just having a good time relaxing, instead of being locked in a small room with a super-powered vigilante who occasionally got him arrested.
