It hadn’t felt like she’d been in Haven as long as she had, but she was finally starting to learn her way around the place. Between the break out her and Tony had orchestrated and her ongoing conversations with Scott, she was starting to get better at socializing with those around her. She’s met a man with a metal arm. She’d been on her best behavior, keeping her power to herself in that instance. That had been interesting. She’d never met someone with a metal limb before.
When she wasn’t trying to meet new people and relearn how to interact with people she was working on her powers or exploring the compound. She’d been wary of going outside, despite the fence that ran the length of the property. She’d lived for too long on the outside, away from safety. She had no desire to put herself in danger again. She liked the warmth of the inside rather than spending her days cold in the snowy fall that was so common in this region. She also liked the novelty of comfortable seats and beds with soft squishy blankets and pillows. On the run, things of that nature had been in short supply. The blanket she’d traveled with had been thin and lightweight to allow for easy carrying. Her pillow was whatever she could find, though this was also assuming she had the time or felt safe enough to truly sleep. It had also been a precious commodity.
Outside the safety of the house, if you could call it that, she hadn’t really ventured, but there had been a few times she’d considered it. Her nerves had always gotten the better of her which were only fueled by the fact that she had no desire to trudge through the snow, but the temptation of a stray cat had been more than the girl with the green hair could ignore. She loved animals, cats specifically and the little black one that had caught her attention out the window had reminded her of her childhood cat, midnight. She’d named him when she was four, she didn’t get points for originality. He looked cold in the snow, a dark spot among all the white. She couldn’t just let him stay outside and freeze to death.
Locating warm enough clothing and shoes had been interesting but before long she’d found herself on the grounds stomping through a foot or so of snow. Stealth did not exist in the snow but the cat was quicker than she was and scampered off just as she reached it. Likely scared off by the woman in oversized clothing making as much noise as possible. She couldn’t help but utter a curse under her breath as she moved to go after the cat. She really did want to make sure he was okay in the cold weather.
Rounding the corner after the small cat, Lorna had thought she was on her own on the grounds. It was a silent kind of day, the snow blinking out all other sounds and making the world seem so much less harsh. She’d been wrong, though, and hadn’t realized it until she found herself intruding on someone else's personal time. “Oh,” she said suddenly as she stooped to pick up the cat. “I didn’t realize anyone else was out here.” There were so many people in the compound she was sure she’d never learn or even meet all of them. This mutant was one she’d never met before. The cat she picked up meowed happily and lurked up to butt her in the face, the force of the hit sending her head back a little bit and knocking the hood of her coat off to reveal her bright green hair. “Aren’t you cold out here?”
