Posters for the Disney+ “live action” version of “Pinocchio”. There’s lots of CGI for a “live action movie. And they’ve decided to make everyone look super-cute.
I think I’d rather see Guillermo Del Toro’s version.

I been trying to avoid new trailers online, waiting to see them at an actual theater. So I saw the trailer for the remake of “The Lion King”. The big question that came to mind was:
WHAT’S THE POINT?!?
It looks like a shot for shot recreation of the animated movie. Why mess with a classic? There’s certain behavior we can accept from anthropomorphic animals in a cartoon. But with “life-like” CGI monsters, it looks weird.
The remake of “Dumbo” received poor reviews (47% score at Rotten Tomatoes) and is considered a financial disappointment. I’ll be curious what the results are for this one. I didn’t see Dumbo I’m not particularly interested in this version of The Lion King.
Two comments overheard at the end of a Wednesday Night screening of “Ready Player One”:
(1) Eight Year Old Boy, “That was the best action movie I’ve ever seen!”
(2) 30ish hipster, “If you liked that, don’t read the book.”
