Something Wicked This Way Comes ; Watch the Throne (Ch 10)

Clarke is pulled from her musings on the morning and the night previously  by Lexa uttering a terse command to the sole guard at the end of this particular hallway, who had nodded and turned to open the large iron door. 

The tunnels under the tower were purposefully identical, with a seemingly endless number oof hallways branching off of each main artery, a medusa network under the floors of the tower. Each passageway was purposefully devoid of any identifying features, intended to confuse and disorient an invading army were the Tower ever be breeched. Lexa had divulged this information on their quiet elevator ride down, her voice a soothing distraction to the creaking of the elevator as they descended down, shuddering by so many floors that Clarke lost count. 

In the present moment, the door swings  inwards on silent hinges. Clarke represses a shudder and moves forward into the inky blackness. 

And is promptly hit with the force of a freight train as someone barrels into her at full speed. She teeters on her heels before managing to right both herself and her assailant. 

“Hi- Raven-” Clarke manages to gasp out despite the arms that are slowly compressing her ribcage. Gently, she pries the mechanic off of her, holding her friend at arms length as air manages to refill her lungs with a fortifying breath. 

“Clarke- holy shit–” 

Clarke inadvertently sees the body on the metal table behind Raven as her friend steps aside, hands gesticulating as she talks, the solitary piece of furniture in the small stone room. Raven’s voice fades into the background as Clarke moves forward, dreamlike, to stand at the foot of Emerson’s body. The Commander has swept past the two visiting Skaikru to examine the last remaining Mountain Man, speaking quietly to Nyko as she paces around the perimeter of the examining table. Ryder and Cadoc have taken up positions at the door, Cadoc eyeing Bell stonily. Bellamy glares right back, his right hand resting at the holster by his hip. In a gesture of goodwill, Lexa had allowed him to keep his weapon. 

Clarke hopes fervently that it wasn’t a mistake.

Chapter 10 is out and its by far the longest one I've written yet and im very proud of it, so you'll read my 5k words of valdangelo brainrot and drop a comment in the fic because it'll make me very happy.

I think I'm gonna start an album just to save goofy panels that amuse me.

When the plan is dumb as hell, but still works.

Until it doesn't.

I didn't have a lot to say about this one, other than a bunch of inarticulate retching noises at how gross these little leech things are. I'm looking forward to the ass kicking this slimy bat fucker deserves, though.
