4, 10, 12 and 22 for Fernando and Zurine pretty please?
COUPLE QUESTIONS / accepting !
4. How do they compare to each other's exes? Are they the same "type" or an upgrade/something different?
hm ... i don't think zuriñe has really been with anyone else, and certainly not in a way that could be classified as an "ex" after the fact. she married fernando when she was nineteen, and she was quite sheltered before then. as for fernando, i don't believe he has a type and, if he did, it wouldn't be zuriñe ! he thinks she's perfect, but i guess there's the distinction of "perfect for life partner and co-ruler," specifically.
10. What was their last big fight? What did they learn from it?
"last" is so relative asjdajdhf i imagine they're could have a fight over what happened in this scene, since zuriñe finds out everything, always, somehow... the last fight of their lives, i'm not sure, but it's probably either the most trivial thing in the world or extremely grave. in fact, i think a huge element of part iii—which i'll get to, when i return it it—is that they don't really fight. zuriñe doesn't bother confronting nando about things that might cause a fight; she just acts on it and lets him deal with the consequences. meanwhile, nando's too easygoing to actually pick a fight with her. why would he want to, anyway? he pisses her off, she indicates she's mad, and then she returns later strangely serene and forgiving ... rinse, repeat. they don't learn much because nando is incapable of learning lessons, sadly ... they've just learned how to live together over time, i suppose, if anything :^)
12. What struggle have they seen each other through?
uhh .... on one end of the spectrum, a light civil war, brief imprisonment, the decision to depose and execute nando's father ?? on the other end, i vaguely alluded to zuriñe having some health problems in the semi-recent past, so ... maybe that.
22. What's different about their backgrounds? Do those differences affect the relationship?
they have similar backgrounds because, while nando was born into the royal family, zuriñe comes from a significant noble family in uspana. i said in an ask response i can't find right now that zuriñe had a more rigorous education than fernando did, and that remains true. overall, i think she's more adept at statecraft and politics than fernando is, at least in terms of the backroom dealing and understanding the country, but it's not totally to do with any disparity in their upbringings. they and their parents just had different priorities, i suppose, about what they needed to study, in what ways, and for how long.
