Hello, Roger Pirates-shadowing!

And I like how Gonfall’s experiences with Roger has shaped the worldview he’s sharing with Conis, and likely also changed how he thought about the Shandorians. There’s a nice cause and effect to his logic.

I just want to thank Oda for providing me with a lance vs lance fight with both participants on flying mounts, because that’s a concept that is inherently awesome

I believe this is our first real hint that the Upper Yard hadn’t always been a part of Skypiea. We also have our first mention of the bell, and it’s a nice touch how it means something completely different to Gonfall than it does to Wyper

while still encompassing the themes of the arc. Skypiea is about a bunch of different things, but most of the emotional arcs are ended with reconciliation. For Gonfall that means Skypieans and Shandorians being able to live together in harmony. To Wyper it’s bringing closure to the story of Kalgura and Noland. Even Luffy gets in on the action, putting to bed the history of Noland and Cricket. And the ringing of the bell is what brings that reconciliation for them all.

I’ve harped on Robin’s character growth in Skypiea, but Chopper gets a nice little mini arc of his own, utterly failing against Shura only to win his first solo fight versus Gedatsu later on. If you pay attention to the dialogue in both fights, you can definitely see him take a step forward in his maturity.
