Mo Dao Zu Shi ─ ch.255 & 256
✦ uncensored version by maotuanxjj & colored by SWUIBIAN
I like how you can tell where we are on the timeline by how many tattoos Wyper has
Cale after being asked if he's good at cussing: I am but I haven't done it lately
Also Cale a few minutes ago: [loud audible cussing]
Mic: Are you... (okay?)
Aizawa: I’m...
Aizawa and Yamada battle-planning and decompressing after the emotional wreck of the last chapter is everything I never knew I needed ;;
they look like such a volleyball power couple in this panel lmao.. anyways i love their “disgusted w hinata” solidarity
In addition to having a lot of Buddhist influences, I like that Oda mixed in a lot of more Western concepts of God: omniscience (predicting how many will survive the death game, in addition to his mantra spying abilities), omnipresence (being able to zip around near-instantaneously via lightning powers), and omnipotence (pretty self explanatory)
While dumping Aisa’s bag of dirt without Laki’s knowledge or permission is a jerk move, I think Wyper’s in the right here. During this speech he makes it pretty clear that some of them are going to die and that as a group they’re going to have to leave the wounded behind if they have any chance of reaching their goal. As far as motivational speeches go it kind of sucks, but he isn’t sugarcoating the reality of the situation.
Which is good, because I’m pretty sure Wyper intended to die during this battle. He wasn’t wearing the Reject Dial the day before; he is now. He hadn’t actually fought against any of the priests before; now he has. He saw how the battle went the day before, realized their efforts weren’t enough, and decided to bring out a kamikaze attack that will at least give his people a chance. And he did it to himself, not asking any of his fellow warriors to make that sacrifice, and not telling anyone in case it shakes their resolve.
He’s not just throwing away Aisa’s bag of dirt here, he’s throwing away his life, and he wants to make sure everyone has the same mindset he does
