Time out. So the glowing baby wasn't the first. It was the Shigaraki brothers.
Chopper’s understandable fear in this moment is one of the quietly heartbreaking parts of this arc.
The majority of this chapter is Chopper getting the shit kicked out of him, and honestly it’s kind of brutal to watch. As he points out, the second rumble ball only gives him a one in six chance of picking the right form to do his super move.
What I like is that Oda does let Chopper pull of his best move at the very last second, and it still isn’t enough. Chopper literally throws his best punch, but he’s still not strong enough to beat CP9. That’s a very different sort of helplessness than not having that chance at all, which helps push his decision into taking that third rumble ball.
As Chopper’s falling unconscious and about to die, his only thought is for Robin
I love the design of Monster Point, but I kind of wish it somehow leaned more into the human aspect of his Devil Fruit
I do find it really endearing that Chopper inherited his dad’s mad scientist tendencies
One of the most frustrating things about this fight (from Chopper’s point of view) is how close he was to winning. Kumadori clearly is on his last wind, same as Chopper, it’s just the latter doesn’t have the stamina to give it one last shot.
