Summary: Palho was sent to kill you and it did not go as planned at all.
Notes: all mistakes on my own, because Bae Nara deserves more love, I’ll be writing more fics with his characters :)
You felt like you were going crazy. Someone was following you, you were sure of it. But every time you looked over your shoulder, there was no one there. You didn’t walk home late with your friends like you used to.
Instead, you took a taxi home after work. And even then, you still felt like someone was watching you. You hated feeling this way, so on edge.
Ever since you slipped and fell into that disgusting water on your new running trail, you felt like there was something wrong was off with you. First, it started internally. The best way to describe it was like static was lining your body.
You felt magnetized whenever you were near the light switch or an electrical box. About a week later, you felt like someone was watching you. And you couldn’t help but think they were related.
Against your better judgement, you let your coworkers drag you along for dinner and drinks. You only had one drink that night; you wanted to remain sharp in case anything happened.
Your coworkers, on the other hand, had more than enough drinks. You had your coworkers a taxi and decided to take the bus home.
Fifteen minutes later, you walk off the bus and walk home from the bus stop. You took out one of your earbuds as you walk up the steep hill. The dim streetlights hummed from above you when you heard shoes scuff behind you.
You froze at the sound, slowly turning around until you saw a hooded figure behind you.
“So you were the one that’s been following me,” you spoke.
The man didn’t say anything, he just raised his hands and clapped once. You raised a brow at him and he looked just as confused as you were. He clapped again, this time much louder and you jumped back at the sound.
“What the hell?” He says, taking a step towards you and you take a slow step back.
“You shouldn’t be alive,” he speaks, taking another step.
“I didn’t do anything to you,”
“You’re breathing. That’s enough for me.” He lunges towards you and you screamed, closing your eyes tightly. You brought your hands up to protect your face when you felt your palms started to tingle.
You heard a loud buzzing sound followed by a grunt. A few seconds later, you heard a thud a few feet away from you. Opening your eyes, you see the man halfway down the street, lying on his back with steam coming from his chest.
Looking down at your hands, you see electricity sparking between your fingers. You looked up at the light posts to see them flickering at the same cadence as your hands.
“Oh my God,” you said out loud.
The man groans on the floor and you turned to run down the street to your house when something caught your attention; your conscious. While he did threaten you, he could be fatally hurt. And if he dies, then it’s on you.
You looked over your shoulder to find him lying there still.
“Shit,”
You turned back around and cautiously walked towards to man who hasn’t gotten up.
“Are you.. okay?” You asked him and he groans in response.
Your eyes fell to the burns on his chest.
“We need to take you to the hospital,” His eyes flicked up to yours, holding your gaze for a moment. It was a bit longer than just a moment.
You thought he was having a stroke until he lifts his hand and made a pulling motion, tugging the power line free so it’s moving randomly under the electrical current.
“What are you doing?”
“In case they ask what happened, just say the power line was free from the harsh winds.” He speaks slowly.
“Why would I lie to them?”
Before he even has a chance to explain further, he passes out from shock.
“Please don’t die,” You scrambled to get your phone out of your pocket and dialed the ambulance emergency line.

It’s been two days since the doctor let you know that the man would be discharged this afternoon. A part of you wondered if he will continue trying to kill you or if he gave up.
You had so many questions and you didn’t know where to start. It seems the only person who knows what’s going on is the man who tried to kill you.
Lost in your own thoughts, you hadn’t realized that the very same man was sitting at your door step. You stopped in your tracks when you finally made the connection.
You pulled your hands out of your pockets and he remained seated on your steps.
You took the time to examine him up close. While he wore a baggy hoodie and jeans, he was athletically built. Had your powers not kicked in when it did, he would have done some damage for sure.
He had a faded scar on the left side of his face. Your gaze fell to his gloved hands before returning back to his eyes. There was something about his gaze that made your heart race. You find him looking at you in a similar way.
“You here to try and kill me again?” You spoke to break the silence.
“I’m here because I owe you. You saved my life by taking me to the hospital. You could have left me to die.” He explains.
“How can I trust you?”
“You shouldn’t,” he stands from the steps with his hands in his pockets as a sign of peace.
“And what exactly do you plan on paying me back with?”
“I’m going to show you how to control your powers,”
You think about what has happened over the past few days. You have powers now and you’ve used them to hurt someone. And now you have a chance to learn where it all came from.
“If you try anything, I’ll do the same thing I did before. And this time, I’m walking away.” You spoke plainly.
A small smile tugs on his lips as he lets out a sigh.“That was cute. Wanna try again with a serious tone next time.” He said sarcastically, taking a step towards you.
“Let’s,” you encouraged, your eyes starting to glow but his smile persisted.
He gives you an impressed nod before stating, “Let’s see what you got,”
The two of you took a taxi to an abandoned school. Anxiety twisted in your stomach when you realized how secluded you were. Maybe this wasn’t the best idea.
He slid a desk into the hallway several feet away from you and placed an empty pencil case on it. He walked over to where you were standing.
“What makes you angry?” He asks openly, causing you to look at him.
“I.. don’t know. There’s not much that makes me angry anymore,”
“Think harder,”
You looked away for a moment, sighing when you realize the only thing that makes you angry is what also made you feel embarrassed.
“My ex-husband cheated on me when I was recovering from a car accident about a year ago. That still makes me angry.” You spoke softly.
“Then focus on that. Picture that pencil pouch as your ex husband’s face.” He suggests, stepping behind you to give you room.
“Okay,” you let out a long breath, flicking your hands until they were relaxed.
You closed your eyes for a brief moment, remembering the tears you cried when you first saw your husband bringing a woman home on the ring camera. When you opened your eyes again, they started to glow.
Your breathing turned raged and electricity traveled down your fingers. You stared at the pencil case and lifted your hands up towards it.
Making a push motion, electricity shot through your hands and zapped through the pencil case, splitting the desk into half and bursting a hole into the wall behind it.
The hole was large enough to step through it into the next room. You looked down at your hands in disbelief, wincing when the desk clattered to the floor after being torn in half.
I did that?
“Category five,” he speaks from behind you and you turned to him.
“How many categories are there?”
He blinks at you, “Five.”
Your gazes went back to the split desk.

You hated to say it, but you enjoyed the routine that you and Palho had. Every week, he would wait for you on your door step and you would go to a remote place. Most times, it would be the abandoned school.
But as you grew stronger and had more control over your powers, he expanded to more open spaces. Now, you were at the point where you could use your powers against each other.
He would hold up a heavy rock with his telekinesis then throw it at you. And you used your powers to either destroy it or send it hurdling back towards him.
Each week, he made the training more challenging. This most recent time, he took you to a junkyard and sent full blown cars in your direction at full speed.
You adapted quite well and you didn’t crack under pressure Palho noticed.
“You’re getting pretty fast,” he states, walking next to you on your way back from home from the junkyard.
You both were a dirty mess. Mud was smeared all over your pants and shirt and your hair tie was barely keeping your braid intact.
“I had a good teacher,” you spoke, looking straight ahead.
Palho also hated to admit that he got used to the routine as well. He didn’t realized how much he lacked company back at his Dad’s lab.
Sure he had his sisters, but they didn’t make him feel at peace like you did. It’s not like you were sweet on him or anything. You were straightforward with what you wanted, and that he could respect.
“Do you think they’ll find me?” You spoke out loud.
“They think you’re dead,”
“Is that what you told them? That you killed me?”
“Yes,”
“Why did they believe you?”
“Because of my reputation,”
“Your reputation as their bloodhound?”
“Yes,”
“Do you think I could become a bloodhound?” You asked after a brief silence.
“Why do you want to become one?”
“Being an accountant isn’t all that it’s chalked up to be.” You answered.
“I’d say the same thing for being a bloodhound,” he says, and you meet his gaze for a moment.
There goes your heart racing again.
“I need to stop by the CU. I’ll see you next week?” You suggest and he gives you a slight nod. You gave him a small wave before crossing the street.
Just as you stepped onto the road, you heard tires squealing. A car peels onto the road and barrels towards you.
