When Harrison is 4 or 5, Chad dies or is arrested. Cassie still isn't allowed custody, so Harrison is put into foster care. Dana adopts him. She is divorced or widowed. Her daughters are good big sisters to Harrison. Cassie eventually gets custody back after starting med school a few years later, but they keep in touch with Dana after seeing how much Harrison loves her. Cassie and Dana eventually fall in love and get married shortly before or after Cassie graduates, and Dana step adopts Harrison

Yet another McHashimi headcanon because I have problems

So I imagine Baran has a healthy co-parent relationship with her ex-husband. It just didn’t work out between them, especially with Baran realizing that she was a lesbian, but there is no bad blood or hard feelings between them.

But it doesn’t take long for Baran to realize that the same can’t be said between Cassie and Chad. She heard from Cassie already how Chad and his new much younger girlfriend, Chloe, treat her and undermine her parenting when it comes to Harrison.

So the first time Baran meets Chad after being official with Cassie, she definitely acts all nice but doesn’t hesitate to put him in his place the second he says or does anything to make Cassie uncomfortable or annoyed.

Oh definitely.

Consider how Baran has handled the state of the ER in one shift, I could definitely see her doing everything she could to make the co parenting dynamic as healthy as possible, especially for her son's sake.

Obviously, Cassie tries to do the same for Harrison but the big difference is that unlike Baran's ex, Chad makes it very difficult to keep things civil.

Baran definitely did her best to be as nice as possible when first meeting Chad but it was very difficult when Chad (and Chloe) were blatantly jealous of the fact that Harrison liked Baran better more than Chloe.
