@chainedaccursed
He woke on Angelgard. Noctis should have known. Bahamut had showed him so much information in the past ten years that he couldn’t justify going to Insomnia right then. Something had to be done. Something. Anything. The boat was found first, his father’s royal vessel, with a group of glaives there. He’d taken them with him, assured that they could radio in for help in their injured states but Noctis was going to bring help to them. He had to, especially after all of the truths he’d learned.
Noctis found that he could barely spare Gentiana much conversation. She’d known as well. She’d had plenty of opportunities to tell him.
Boots thumped on the dock and he listened beyond the movements of the water. A giggle in the distance, a shuffle of fabric, and he could see shadows everywhere beyond. Some moved, others were stationary - very few he recognized. Time had a habit of changing things, he supposed. The light cut through the darkness and Noctis winced - Dino’s clothes, cracked wood, dried and old blood spots, and what he thought was a flash of familiar material in the distance.
It couldn’t be.
Noctis started into the Quay’s resort, well aware that the creaking boards were giving his location away, but he had to be sure he’d actually seen them. Not Ignis, Gladio, or Prompto but the one person he knew would be waiting for him out there - maybe he hadn’t expected it this way though. Had the older man gotten impatient?
In the distance, one of the shadows quickly moved toward him and Noctis stepped back, tripped over a broken chair and scrambled to force himself onto his feet. With his back and knee screaming in pain, he summoned his sword and held it in front of him to fend off an attack should one be coming.
“Stop it! Wait a minute, I know what they did to you!” His heartbeat hammered in his chest and Noctis grit his teeth. Had Bahamut counted on this too? “They played you, both of us, like a pair of pawns on a chess board. I know you don’t want to listen but Somnus’s actions were unforgivable. Reprehensible. I know that now so just... Stop for a fucking minute.”
Was he even talking to the right person? Noctis lifted his head, hair ragged and unkempt, hoping to find Ardyn in front of him.

@chainedaccursed continued from here.
At seventeen years old, Noctis was the last in the long line of Lucis Caelums. His father had passed away a few weeks ago and ever since, there had been a debate on just who should lead the order of hunters. It should be Noctis, traditionally, a Lucis Caelum had always headed the order – they were stronger and faster than the average hunter – but many argued that he was too young and inexperienced. He had the support of Ignis and Gladio, of course and Clarus and Cor who had both been loyal to his father.
Titus Drautos, on the other hand, believed things had been stuck in ‘the old way’ for far too long and would benefit a change in leadership. Of course he worded it all so it sounded like he was just concerned about the pressure that would befall the young hunter, but it was obvious he just wanted the be in charge.
Realizing that it would take a fairly impressive feat to prove himself in the eyes of Titus and the others, he thought it a smart idea to seek out the legendary Accursed. Nobody could claim he wasn’t ready if he staked the Accursed of all people. He knew that his friends would be against his little trip, Cor too, so he left in the middle of the night without a word.
It took some time, but Noctis was eventually able to track the vampire down and he was met with no resistance as he entered the building. For a while, he thought that maybe his lead had turned out to be a bust until he found the vampire in what must be his bedroom. Shit. So much for the element of surprise. Still, the sight of the bodies piled up on the floor was enough to make him feel sick and he tightened his grip on the stake. If anyone could kill the Accursed, it was him – that was what he’d been told all of his life.
The vampire was fast though, much quicker than any other he’d faced and Noctis had no react before the vampire was upon him, catching his arm in a vice-like grip which only tightened until bones were breaking. Stubborn pride kept him from from crying out, but his face contorted and he paled, the stake falling uselessly to the floor. At that point, he was in too much pain to fully focus on what the vampire said next, just that the vampire knew who he was. Still, as the vampire pulled him closer, Noctis struggled desperately despite the pain he was in, wildly lashing out at him until he found himself growing weaker.
By the time the vampire tore into his own wrist and forced him to drink from it, he was too weak to fight back and a moment or so later, he was limp in the Accursed’s arms.
It was several hours before the boy finally awoke where the Accursed left him, eyes flickering open as he shot upright. His breathing was quick, more out of panic than an actual need to breathe, though he didn’t understand that just yet. He was too busy trying to deal with the complete overload coming from his now enhanced senses. Every sound, no matter how small, seemed loud and together, they were making his head pound. He moved to stand, but only managed to make it to his knees before he doubled over, fingers curling into fists as he willed the noise to stop.

[ if V even stands close to them while they’re up, they regain their health ]
V’s presence is literally healing and comforting in a battlefield, and that’s just canon.

🔥 @chainedaccursed (Ardyn has requested the queen’s attention)
Being around the Chancellor had always created a sense of unease in her heart. Looking up at him was the only option she had aside from speaking to him from a distance. Disrespectful. The voice of her old matron crowed in her head as she forced her feet to carry her the few yards toward him.
In the sky above them, her three dragons circled the fort and she thought of the past few weeks, anger beginning to bubble in her chest once more. “I believe I specifically requested to be present at the Crown City when she fell. Why was I not informed?”
More specifically, her own father had failed to inform her that he was going to the Crown City and not the magitek research facilities as she’d been told. The collective roar of her dragons overhead was ignored by her, she would attend to them later.
“And now, I have reports that the Lucian Prince was not present. Was my father so sloppy as to allow such a thing?” She tilted her chin upward, lavender eyes unamused, and narrowed them. “I can only assume that what you are working on is going according to plan so please, do tell me what I can do.”
"Fuck." He's learned a new word.

“Did you just...” Verstael looks up from his notes in disbelief, questioning if he had misheard the opposite. How he ended up learning such a word? Hopefully, Ardyn hasn't learned it from him. The lead researcher knows how much he swore by a failed experiment. That really was more than wonderful, having such a word being one of the first ones. "Can you say it again?" Although, it could be entertaining to see Ardyn saying it maybe towards Iedolas.
