Chainsaw hand work in progress. Weathering! The best bit of any project. I find it really relaxing sitting with some oil paint and rag & brush and giving an object a sense of history by coating it in filth. Ash's chainsaw is extra grungy so I've added sawdust and grit to the mix and crammed as much of it into the crevices as possible. In fact I might go back and go over it again later before I add the gore. Chainsaw hand wip. Managed to chop the engine down so I can get my hand inside. Its VERY tight in there. Got her dissasembled and gave her a bath. The bolts were seized with years of oil and filth so I had to warm them with a heat gun and twatt them with a hammer. I think I'll sculpt and cast the grill to cover that sticker. #propbuilding #evildead2 #chainsawhand #chainsaw #ashvstheevildead #ash

After thinking for a few months about building my own chainsawhand I bit the bullet and picked up a reasonably priced broken Homelite XL2. Its metal rsther than plastic so it won't be screen accurate and a bit heavy for cosplay but the plastic XL is a rare beast in the uk and I'm damned if I'm spunking £70+ on shipping from the states. My son's toy shelf isn't quite like his friends :-D Its given me a real urge to build a full size accurate chainsaw hand. Plastic Homelite XL chainsaws are thin on the ground in the uk though :-( #chainsawhand #evildead2 #customtoy

Toddler chainsawhand Wip. Turns out weight isn't an issue. I gave the saw to caleb and he immediately stuck his hand in it, said "Thank you Daddy!" And started trying to carve stufff up. So I decided to scratch build a more movie accurate starter thing out of plastic card, epoxie sculpt and a spray can lid. I filled all the nooks and crannies with resin adheisive to make it a bit more durable, but ultimately its not if he'll break it but when. A bit of cord and dowel will be added and the whole thing will be screwed to the side. #wip #chainsawhand #evildead2 #toddlercostume #halloween #scratchbuilt #horror
