Why Viego is in the new Pentakill line up & Rell (currently) is not:

Pentakill releases a song called, “Blade of the Ruined King” after the item, “Blade of the Ruined King”
Now flash forward to 2021, Riot releases Viego, “The Ruined King” and his champion theme has at least 6 measures of the “Blade of the Ruined King” song in it. Like as soon as he was announced as a champion I KNEW he was going to be in Pentakill- that wasn’t even a question. 2. Pick-rate/Popularity Also lemme just, this is a champion pick rate chart from op.gg showing how often champions are picked and played in games:
Sad truth is: People play Viego, people don’t play Rell. From Riot THEMSELVES last year in an AskRiot:
In other words: 🤑 🤑 🤑 🤑 Money. The 0.2% of Rell players buying a Rell skin wont make Riot as much money as the 15% of Viego players.
Riot did promise in the future that they’d still be trying their hardest to make sure every champion won’t have to wait more than a year between skins but $$$ is the reason why the unpopular champs aren’t in the popular skin lines.
Maybe in the future Rell will get a spot in Pentakill.. maybe.
