Cat Power's 7th studio album was released on 20 January 2006.
The Greatest was Chan Marshall's first album in 3 years and revealed a more soul-influenced sound (it was recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN) and was the first album where all the songs were written by Marshall.
The Greatest debuted at #34 on the US Billboard chart and would go on to be listed as one of the best albums of 2006 and one of the best albums of the decade.
