Running out of your house and into your car you knew that you have overslept from your nap and was later to pick up your younger cousin from swim practice.
Normally your other cousin was practicing at would bring her there and back but since they were out of practice due to an injury your mother asked if you were available to pick up Lucy.
Once enter the swim facility you were met with a bunch of teams ranging from young children to teens your age.
You walked up to the view area to see if you could find your cousin, but no luck. With all of them wear swim caps it practically impossible to find someone.
Squinting your eyes and looking carefully you spotted a blue cap with your family's last name on it, so you knew where little Lucy was and where you could pick her open.
About ten minutes have passed and practice was done for the day. You saw your cousin Lucy get out of the pool with her fellow teammates and walked towards her stuff. So you decided to go down and meet up with her.
“Y/N! My dad told me that you’re going to start picking me up from swim practice because my sister is in the hospital right now is that true?!” she said running up to you.
“Yep, I guess you will be seeing more of me now,” you chucked giving her a hug back.
“Now go get changed your soaking wet,” you pushed her towards the locker room.
“Wait I have to go talk to my coach real quick, I’ll be right back,” Lucy said turning around and walking towards a tall male figure who looks to be your age.
Soon she returned with the coach walking with her.
Looking closer at him you notice how handsome he looked as well as his mole under his eye.
“Oh no,” you said softly to yourself “Why are you bring him here Lucy!”.
“Y/N this is one of my coaches Hyunjin, he on the same team as my sister so he already knows her”.
“Yeah, it’s protocol to meet the parents and or guardian if the student is under the age of 13” Hyunjin extended his hand out for a handshake. “Hyunjin,” he said with a smile.
“Y/N,” you replied back to him then letting go of his hand once it was over.
“So I’m sorry about your cousin's injury, everyone here misses her, except one person,” Hyunjin said moving his head to one of the team members.
“Well she is an amazing swimmer, hopefully, everything will be in her favor.” you set your hand on Lucy's shoulder as your notice her getting a bit emotional.
“Hey Lucy, don’t cry,” Hyunjin bent down to be the same height as Lucy “she will be back and stronger then, and who knows maybe you can out swim her now”.
A small chuckled left Lucy mouth and then a smile grew.
“Come on getting change, we have to go meet our family for dinner,” you said pushing her softly towards the locker room. “Umm, you’re really goods with kids I see”.
“Yeah, they are so much fun to be around plus I put so much into the swimming I wanted to share that passion with them,” Hyunjin looked at you and smile at your compliment.
“It really pays off Lucy talks about how much she loves swim not because of her sister but also because of the people here”.
“Well I’m glad that she loves it, I have to go get to practice but I’ll see you when you come to pick up Luck,” Hyunjin waved goodbye before meeting up with his fellow teammates.
“I’m ready Y/N!” with a smile on her face and her swim bag on her shoulder you wrapped your arms around your little cousin before exiting the swim facility.
The day had passed and went throughout the day just like you normally would.
School, Home, Nap.
But again you had a lot to long of a nap, “DANG IT IM LATE AGAIN” you said running out of your house and into the car.
“I’m here, I’m here, why is no one here,” you said looking around at an empty swimming pool.
“I swear if there no one here and I rushed out of my house for no reason I will scream”.
“Hey Y/N,” someone said from behind you.
Probably jumping about three feet in the air you notice that Hyunjin was standing behind you.
“Hey be careful,” he quickly helps you catch your balance.
Once again your face to face with Hyunjin, looking at him directly into his eyes.
The whole world could have continued while you were looking at his eyes.
“Umm,” once you got your balance back you quickly looked away. “So where is everyone?” you asked still trying not to look at him.
“Um, they are in the main building having a small party. One of the head coaches is leaving so everyone is there for a farewell party”.
“Wow that nice of everyone, they must really love that coach”.
“Yeah, he been with the team since I was small,” Hyunjin said looking down at the ground rubbing his neck.
“That sweet,,, why are you not celebrating with them?” you asked noticing that you two were the only ones at the pool.
“I wanted to get in a few laps before my team practice officially began I want to try to cut down my 200 IM time to an official AA time”.
“Ummm what now?” your face show your confusion once he said that.
“Okay, well you know how swim has four main events”.
Shaking your hand no, hyunjin proceeded to try another method. He grabs your hand and brought you closer to the pool.
“You may want to stand back until I’m in the water” Hyunjin placed his hand on your shoulder.
He got onto the block and jumped into the water. “Okay so with swim we have 5 main events freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and IM. So an IM is a combination of all four main events. So this pool is a 25-meter pool for a 200 IM I have to swim back and further with each event 8 times. Do you want an example? I can do a 100 which is me swimming 4 laps?”
“Yeah sure” you hopped onto the block and sat crisscrossed.
Watching Hyunjin swim was something, you never saw someone so fast in the water.
About two minutes passed before Hyunjin was back swimming in front of you. “So yeah that was what an IM is,” he said swimming towards the pool lane and holding onto it.
“Wow you are really fast, you could probably beat me in a race cause I can’t swim like you”.
“Well, I can always teach you? I am a coach, it's my job to teach people”.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” you said looking at him with a smile.
“Hey Y/N,” Lucy said walking over to you.
Coming as a surprise you almost fell off of the block.
“Um I’m ready when you are to go,” she said looking over at the two of you before walking towards the exit.
“Um,” you moved a piece of your hair behind your ear “I just this is goodbye again”.
“Yeah, I guess” Hyunjin hopped out of the pool and quickly got his towel.
“Wait for Y/N, before you go, I would really like to hang out with you again, what we just did was fun even though you basically just watched me swim for a whole two minutes”.
“I would like that” you look into his eye and smiled at him.
The two of you exchanged phone numbers and so you were on your way.
“So are you and Hyunjin a thing now?” Lucy asked fastening her seatbelt.
“What no we are just two people who are hanging out,” you tried to shift the conversation in a different direction but that backfired on you.
“Y/N you don’t have to lie to me, I see the way that the two of you look at each other. I may be young but I’m not stupid”.
“And I’m not calling you stupid, I just don’t know if Hyunjin feels the same way that I feel about him”.
“And that is?”.
“You know every time I look at him the world around us just stops, it’s cheesy okay I give it but I don't know may he don’t feel anything towards me. I could be overreacting”.
Getting home you received a friendly text message from Hyunjin.
[Hyunjin 17:50] hey are you busy right now?
You got up from studying and jumped around your room. You could feel your heart break-in out of your chest. Jumping onto your bed you opening the messaging app and replied to him.
[You 17:53] no not really just doing some calc homework.
Placing your phone on your chest and closing your eyes, you dreamt of the moment that you had with Hyunjin earlier that day.
A vibration from your phone soon awoken you from your little daydream
[Hyunjin 17:58] aw that’s sound horrible, but I know that you're smart enough to finish it :)
Cue our internally screaming for the next couple of minutes.
You couldn’t believe your eyes.
Your phone vibrated again but this time it was for a FaceTime call.
Looking down at yourself you notice how you looked like a complete bum.
There no way you could show this show of your life to Hyunjin.
You quickly ran to your closet and got your gray cardigan, removed your huge oversized hoodie and placed the cardigan over your tank top. You ran your fingers through your hair for a bit before FINAL answer the call.
“Hey Y/N,” he said over the phone.
“Hyunjin hi, what do I owe the honor of you calling me?” you laughed softly at your reply.
“I just wanted to see and talk to you that’s all. And I also wanted to see if you wanted to go swimming with me tomorrow? Since they’re no classes at school and the pool is close maybe we could hang out” he smiles softly wondering what your reply was going to be.
“Yeah, I would like that a lot”.
“Cool I’ll pick you up tomorrow then,” Hyunjin said showing a huge smile on his face
“I guess you will” returning a smile back at him.
“Wait to stay still”
“Wait why?”
“Cause I wanna take a screenshot of you smiling, it’s cute”.
“Hyunjin? Did you just call me cute?” a subtle blush suddenly appeared on your face.
For the rest of the night, the two of you continued facetime each other to God know what time.
It was definitely late since once you walked out of your room to get a glass of water, all of the lights in your house were off.
But you returned to your call with Hyunjin and finally ended it once Hyunjin saw you doze off for a couple of minutes.
The morning finally arrives and you didn’t know what to expect.
You packed your swimsuit as well as an extra outfit to wear after into your backpack.
But there was also a weird feeling in your stomach like you were so excited to hang out with Hyunjin today, but your nerves weren’t allowing you to eat, you felt dizzy, and need to be near a restroom (just in case).
The doorbell rang and you quickly grab a couple of essentials before heading towards the front door.
“Hyunjin hi,” opening the door to a friendly face you were excited to see.
“Hey Y/N are you ready?”
“Yeah, everything is set”.
You locked the door behind you before grabbing Hyunjin’s hand and following him to his car.
He kindly opened the door for you and you hopped right in.
“Do you want to pick the song?” he asked handing you the aux cord.
“Umm sure why not,” receiving the cord and plugging it into your phone you then proceeded to pick a song.
“Oh let’s go picnic by george right?” he asked looking at you.
Smiling and shaking your head yes you were surprised that someone like him knows this song.
“Oh once we arrive near the destination you have to close your eyes, life after we park that’s all”.
“You're not going to abandon me are you?” you sneakingly said to him.
“Shh,” he looked over to you and grabbed your hand “I’m not exposing all of my secrets”.
“Hyunjin what do you have planned?!” you said with a scared tone in your voice.
He just smiled and continued to look at the road in from the front of you. The rest of the car ride the two of you continued to talk, laugh, and sing along to whatever song seems to play. It was a perfect car ride and you didn’t want it to end.
“Hyunjin where are we?” looking around at the scenery around you seeing trees surrounding the two of you for miles.
“Just trust me you're going to love it,” he said turning the car.
Quickly he unbelted his seatbelt and run to your side of the car. “Here” he held his hand out and as you grabbed it you felt a sense of excitement that was about to happen.
The two of you walked hand and hand deep into the forest not knowing what allied before you.
“Okay,” Hyunjin walked behind you and set his hands over your eyes, “We are almost there Y/N trust me”.
“I trust you Hyunjin”
Walking closer to the area you heard a rushing waterfall but you thought that couldn’t be a waterfall, we are in the middle of a forest.
Your whole body was filled with goosebumps wondering where in the world Hyunjin brought you too.
“Okay ready 3..2..1”.
Opening your eyes you were taking away from the beautiful spring before you. It looks like a picture taken out of a storybook.
“Hyunjin,” you turned around and faced him with tears forming in your eyes. You never met a guy who would go out of his way to make one day so perfect. He singing with him in the car from bringing you to the springs. How did you get so lucky to meet someone like him?
“Y/N, you don't have to say anything. I know there was something special about you since the first time when I saw you. I'm so glad that you came to pick up Lucy while your cousin out due to an injury. I just I’m trying to say is that I like you, I like you a lot” he placed his forehead on your looking into your eyes once again.
“Y/N,,, can I kiss you”.
A simple nod came from you and the two of closed the gap that was between.
His soft lips on yours felt like heaven on earth and insured you that Hyunjin was all your.
“Hey you know you still owe me a swimming lesson if I’m correct?” giggling after the kiss you were reminded of the little deal the two of you made.
“I’ll teach you later, I wanna kiss you again,” Hyunjin pulled you close and kissed you once again.
