I’ve been trying to find the right words for this:
You wanting to change yourself isn’t self love. A lot of us prop up self love as solving our issues with “changing the things we don’t like about ourselves.”
Just reading that you may not see the problem but self love is about accepting the parts you don’t like and understanding why they are there. To practice self love is to notice when you may be acting on a bad habit and meeting that part of yourself to find out why you keep doing it. From there you can give yourself compassion and talk to that part of yourself to find an answer to why they keep holding you hostage. Working with your “shadow” shines a light on the issue you want to change and integrates the unwanted parts by accepting them then communicating instead of rejecting and disowning.
Then you can implement change slowly with awareness and acceptance that even if that shadow comes back full force you won’t be as scared knowing how to talk to that part with practice. You will know when it can be triggered. You will know more about yourself than ever before. And from there you can implement change.

A Lifetime Ago
I miss you I miss me I miss who we used to be the garden where roses once did grow and I realize all I actually miss is a time now ended a lifetime ago
Jedi Order Reforms
To make my feelings regarding Jedi Order reformations perfectly clear:
There are several (and in Legends, many) reforms that I think would be nice to see for the benefit of the Jedi and their everyday life. A good example of such reforms can be seen in blue sunshine's Desert Storm stories.
But there is only one (1) reform that would have really saved the Jedi from Sidious: pack up everything and run like hell. That was not an option for several reasons, the most important being that it would have been unconscionable (and, of course, that they had no reason to do so).
Unalome
I have ten days until I start nursing school which seems complete impossible to me. It has taken me so long to get to this point in my life that I’m a little in shock that it’s finally here.
Here’s what happened so far in the last week:
Friday
I took my dog to get the staples removed from his face and had brunch downtown with my boyfriend. I spent a long time at the health department on Friday getting a Hep B titre and a Chicken Pox vaccine because apparently I never had my second Chicken Pox booster when I was a kid. That thing was so annoying. It left a huge welt on my arm that was very hard, sore, and itched. Plus, I was told that I have to avoid pregnant people for one month which is really inconvenient given that my best friend is currently pregnant. I was really hoping to be able to spend time with her before school started but that is now out the window. After I left the Health Department I went to another clinic to get a TB test. I also was doing some pet sitting Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday
More pet sitting and cleaning up the house
Sunday
More pet sitting and brunch with my mother, to which we took our dogs.
Monday
I spent the entire day with my boyfriend which was so nice because I can’t remember the last time we got to spend this much time today and also have no idea when the next time will be.
Tuesday
I lost my job. I worked for a friend of mine and we had a disagreement and decided that the arrangement wasn’t working anymore. Honestly, I was relieved. It has given me time to get things handled before I start school. I am choosing to see this as the opportunity for me to start nursing school on the best foot forward that it is. I went to therapy, the grocery store, and spent more time with my boyfriend before going home to prep dinner. I love to cook but I am almost certain that I’m going to have a lot less time to do that once school starts.
Wednesday (Today)
Today, I went back to the Health Department to get my Hep B titre results and surprise, I needed a Hep B booster but the Health Department was all out and had no idea when they were going to get more in. I ended up calling about 10 places before I found someone that had it but since I’m not a child my insurance wouldn’t cover the Hep B booster. $93 later, I’m up to date on my vaccines.
What I am trying to take away from this week is that change happens. I finally have gotten to a place in my life where rather than moving backwards or standing still I actually feel like I’m moving forward.
Recently I saw a post on Facebook from a girl I went to high school with that detailed how she feels like compared to our peers she’s “behind”. She took the words right out of my brain. One of my biggest struggles is comparing myself to others, especially people my age, that I went to school with, and are pursuing the same career that I am. The important thing to remember is that the path is not always linear. Personally I am a fan of the Buddhist philosophy of Unalome. “In the Buddhist tradition, Unalome represents the path each person takes throughout their life. That road can be straight, circular, or winding.” If I ever get enough extra money to get a tattoo, that will probably be the first thing that I get done.
Tumblr Then and Now
Then: OMG, your words leave me breathless. Please stay. Please promise me you’ll stay forever. Now: Um, I’m sorry, but something’s changed and I don’t feel the same. Can we just be friends? Me: Sigh!
Digital Tears
Pornbots and corporations following me surrounded by faces I no longer know feeling slightly sad and foolish writing this rant about a place I once loved so Oh well what the hell change happens and I’m simply shedding a digital tear yet to everyone I’m still blessed to love please know I’m glad to have you here
A Time To Grieve
Something’s missing, a time to grieve though for what, or why, we don’t know home left us wanting, it’s time to leave yet truthfully we’ve nowhere else to go
