Relationships: He Has Changed. He Is Not The Same
At the start of a relationship, everything is new and exciting. You take the time to find out what each other likes and dislikes are, you find out who a person really is. But maybe we could change lifes together.
When people stand together and are all focused on the same thing amazing things can happen. Change the world together
Case study: Carly's Changing....
Carly came onto the Change Together project through a referral from probation. Carly had faced many set backs as a result of her criminal convictions and felt that no-one was willing to give her a chance. Carly has a lifetime ambition to get into nursing. We talked about the barriers she faced and how we could help her overcome this through a volunteering placement. Carly was successful in securing a placement in the BVSC volunteer centre: this placement gave her the opportunity to work in a supportive role with adults from all backgrounds. Carly completed her 50 hour placement in November; during her exit interview Carly said “I’m so proud of myself; I can’t get the grin off my face! The people I have worked with have helped to boost my confidence so much, this placement has helped me to work out what I want to do and given me the confidence to go for it. I always put myself down and think I can’t do things but this has proven to me that I can.” Carly decided to continue volunteering with us at BVSC and is also looking at taking up a placement with the Birmingham Women’s Hospital. This will hopefully be the gateway to the career she always wanted.
