Laas
Rewatching DS9, got to the episode Chimera in which Odo meet another (non-Founder) changeling called Laas. Good episode, like most of DS9, but something about it bothers me.
I'd never really thought about it before but Odo does Link with Laas, and - as we find out later that Odo is the source of the disease that infected the Great Link - this should mean he infects Laas too. We can't blame Odo, he didn't know he was carrying the Changeling equivalent of HIV, but nonetheless them linking should mean Laas catches it. And, so far as we know, Laas never returns to the Great Link, instead he goes to find other Changeling from the Hundred, so he wouldn't have been cured.
I don't know much about Star Trek lore outside what we see on TV in the movies, so I wonder if this ever addressed at all? 'Cause, for all we know, Laas is out there somewhere, inadvertently spreading Changeling AIDs to every one of his kind he comes across.
