Marrakech, the Engrossing City

Welcome to Marrakech! Ever more and growingly travelers are charmed by the atmosphere, the rich culture and flavors of a misfeasance to Marrakech. The home is a true skill in this destination<\p>

So this stubble city will look like a matinee idol set in the natural place that is not far, the High Atlas Mountains. <\p>

Using his capital to acquire Detroit's most famous landmarks he owns the image of Detroit. Gilbert, buying property as if it is a life sized game of Monopoly, has invested more as $1,6 billion in downtown Detroit. His presence is changing the city, providing jobs, security and infrastructure — all owned by a private investor. My publication aims to visualise the power of Gilbert by analysing every aspect of his private city.

The Alternativa 2013 curators have taken on the urgent subject of city planning and its ideologies as well as the everyday tactics of dwelling and inhabitation in it. Locating curatorial practice in the heart of the Gdansk Shipyard, Alternativa 2013 is both a result of research as much as a matter of concern for us.

Politecnico University Milano is leading a series of public meetings to explore and discuss new development scenarios in the changing city. During the third meeting the subject will be 'Which city? Urban activism and research '. How to imagine and build the new city? Answers can be found in public art,  participatory architecture, life in the neighborhoods, new visions for landscapes.

Changing point of view

Some may consider the open construction site for the 2012 Olympics at London an inconvenience, but it took only a one-morning work, an open mind and a blue stair-like structure to change people's point of view, instigating their interest on architecture and on public spaces.

The OSA (Office for Subversive Architecture) team has thought and and, as a result, built in June 2008 the first illegal viewing platform, trying to make everyone able to see the changing city.

When the citizen becomes conscious about his surroundings he can feel a part of a process and not an outsider in his own city.
