“Low self-esteem comes from failing to meet our needs”
I have been thinking a lot about this lately, I thought eating healthy and exercising, going for walks and journaling means I’m taking care of myself ergo I’m meeting my needs. But, I always fall short and go straight back to my old, not so healthy, habits. I came to the conclusion that our needs may not necessarily always mean going to the gym, or getting that summer body.
Sometimes our needs would be taking a nap when we really need it, or eating that chocolate bar that we’ve been craving. Our needs don’t need to be picture perfect, but meeting them is still necessary to our wellbeing. And having low self-esteem I believe comes hand in hand with not validating our needs, and rather judging ourselves for even having them.
