The Artist Formerly Known as Prince // 1999
A Room Full of Glasses // By Steven Parke // Chanhassen Arboretum, MN
Divinity, the last surviving dove owned by Prince during his lifetime, has died at 28. She wasn’t just a pet, she was a collaborator, with a cooing credit on Prince’s song “Arboretum.”
#Repost from @rabenson76 • • • • • • Paisley Park Last night at Paisley Park, his spirit still is felt and the purple glow engulfs my entire being. It was therapeutic to return and celebrate the Sign O’ The Times deluxe set release and to see my Purple Family from far and wide. #prince4ever #princerogersnelson #💜 #paisleypark #thepurpleone #paisleyparkisinyourheart #sott #purpleglow #purplefamily #purplefam #therapeutic #goodtimes #chanhassen https://www.instagram.com/p/CFn42qQljJ7/?igshid=18pkfvdf5tq30

Wrap up from the land of the Professor...
“When I think of home I think of a place where there’s love overflowing...”
Another visit to the mecca is just about at its end...
I felt so strange after that first visit to Paisley during this round, I wasn’t sure if I was just tired, still unwinding from the stress of the previous week, or just overwhelmed in general...I truly didn’t “connect in” as I usually do when I go there.
That night as I sat in my Prince themed airbnb room, I asked the universe to give me something...a sign, a feeling, something...I didn’t ever want this place to be a place where I became jaded and didn’t feel and boy did the universe deliver!
The next visit to Paisley was wonderful. Tour was still eh, but there was a really special moment when someone noticed me and gave me something that felt like an undeniable nod responding to my request...🕊️
Also, the energy of the After Dark party was exactly what I yearned for. Positivity, sharing, love, again I sat outside that building in my car afterwards just staring at the building feeling so much...
Today, sharing some reflective moments with the group of women I was with.
A bittersweet thankfulness...we lost P, but gained so many friends and deep relationships because of the way he brought us together. He helped us all find each other so that we could support and lean on each other for WAY more than dealing with his transition, but more as support and friendship in life.
Then connecting with local fams, checking in with Purple Playground at the Open Streets Festival...
hooking up with a friend to be walked around to spots that showed how Minneapolis celebrated their son...
People biking and skating and relaxing and spending time with friends and loved ones around Bde Maka Ska (formerly known as Lake Calhoun)...
It was SO NICE to see everyone just enjoying being present in the moment in this beautiful space with such positive energy and love. That “magic” or the “feeling” or the just something that we connect with Prince was EVERYWHERE, not because he made it so, but because he was a product of this wonderful beautiful place!
When you come here, I encourage you to visit more than the tourist spots of Paisley or even stops on various tours you might hear about. Stop in at a local cafe. Take a stroll around the many lakes. Spend a quiet moment in a park...experience Minneapolis, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie. Talk to the locals. Exist and be present in this space. It truly brings a lot of context to our guy and brings a whole level of understanding and even deeper love of him, but especially for one another. 💜
Until next time!
