4:Quick, you’re in desperate need of a fake name. What character name do you think of first?
17: What do you think about movie/tv adaptations?
I’m a comm major and want to work in tv and film so I love the idea of them, though there has yet to have been an adaptation of a series I love. the only thing about those kinds of adaptations is obviously the quality is very rarely ideal because Hollywood’s main priority is making all that $$$$ and film is very sadly dominated by old white men who are oblivious to many different demographics, particularly young adults. I’m more partial to TV adaptations because you get more out of a story that way as long as the producers stick to a pre-designed story arc rather than make as many episodes as they can before the network pulls the plug. I think tv and movie adaptations could be incredible and more successful if producers and writers put more effort into understanding the material they are working with rather than being like “let’s throw in a love triangle, make the love interest an asshole oh and let’s see if we can cast lily collins because the teens know her”. More than anything I would love to see Netflix dive into the YA universe because they would make incredible adaptations and not order more seasons than they need to tell a quality story.
