Thunder of As’Khaa’k
The Thunder of As’Khaa’k are a collection of renegade Astra Militarum Regiments. They are notable for their use of elite infantry with auxilia support from unaligned chaotic beasts. Their origins are unknown and unapparent to those who attempted to investigate the matter, seeming to have just emerged during the Siege of Arkeliptus.
The warband is primarily a Chaos Undivided unity, devoted to the Warp as the true manifestation of creation and destruction, order and chaos. This is visible with their summonings of unaligned warp entities.
The Thunder of As’Khaa’k is divided into two main groups, with subdivisions within.

The Scions of As’Khaa’k
The Scions are the true military aspect to the warband. By the standards of the Astra Militarum they are extremely well equipped, despite their lack of clear resupply method, and display a rare strategic unity only shared by regiments such as the Death Korps of Krieg.
Their methodology has proven difficult for Imperial examiners to clearly identify. Survivors are almost always taken away to be inducted into The Peons.

The Peons
Despite the diminutive name, The Peons are the backbone which supports all operations and raids the Scions undertake. They fill ever role from logistics. Communications, vehicle operations, and are the summoners for the daemonic allies which support them.
Given the ideal situation, the Peons are never to see battle and only those suited are trained to be transferred to the Scions.
Sources of recruits can vary heavily based on region of operation. Prisoners captured from battle, slaves gained from the local populations, some are even volunteers who wanted to join those freeing them from the Imperial shackles.

Daemon Prince As’Khaa’k, The Lord of Beasts
As’Khaa’k is a Daemon Prince in the service of The Dark Prince Slaanesh. Low within the daemonic hierarchy, he spends more time around his warband than the other daemons of the Prince. The feral nature of this mortal ascendant has drawn unique attention from the unaligned beasts within the Warp and gets exploited by the Thunder to great effect against Imperial forces.
The alignment of As’Khaa’k has raised the question of whether the wider warband is devoted to Slaanesh or any other deity, but there has been no recorded sign of iconography or battlecries which could indicate this.
