Always looking away

“What do you think will be your biggest mistake in life?” he asked, looking down the hill that green grass covered like an ocean of endless waves. 

How could anyone know that? But the thought of it was scary. Lately, she had felt like life was full of endless roads that were all wrong but only one that was right. So how could anyone find that one right road from the labyrinth of millions? 

“I don’t know. Maybe it’s falling for you.” She answered looking at the man sitting next to her. 

“Such a cliche.” He snorted falling on his back, lying on the hill.

“You can’t say it’s a cliche if it is the truth,” she answered laying next to him. 

The sky was bluer than it had ever been and a slight summer wind flew over them. There wasn’t a day as beautiful as this one.  She turned to look at him. His eyes were closed, his long eyelashes resting and painting, and his sharp jawline that he so often clenched was relaxed. He looked even more beautiful than the day. But he didn’t say anything. 

She wouldn’t have said either. If she had someone tied around her finger. Tied with a deadly grip, she wouldn’t have said nothing either. Him keeping her a hand away, but still giving her so much. She couldn’t imagine what a dream would have looked like. If he only opened his eyes to see her. If for once he wouldn’t look else. Maybe that was the biggest mistake he would ever make. Always looking away.
