The first page of 1134 is up on the Japanese site and I want to talk about it.

Luffy is speaking so formally haha. Though seems slightly unsure if he's saying everything correctly as he introduces himself to Saul.

"Old man Saul!" "A long time ago, you took great care of my underling." "Thank you very much!" After this, Luffy says “ohike nasutte kure!!” As Wano's iconic "Beng!!" sounds off in place of the usual "Don!!" We've heard that phrase before!

As some may be aware, "Ohike nasutte" is the title of chapter 976, where Jinbei arrives in Wano! Translated as "Begging your Pardon." I love it and it's honestly really cool seeing this from Luffy.

Then the others are like "Where did you learn that?" comical sweat drop*

Luffy continues and uses another phrase of Jinbei's from 976, dochira sanmo, a polite way of getting everyone's attention, though he seems to be running out of steam to talk so formally. Big kudos to Luffy for the effort! Poor guy, tired himself out.

There is a bit more after this, though this post is really about the similarities to 976. I am eager to get to the full chapter on Sunday.

Also yeah, I had been wondering like. OP's science is whimsical so you can't be ever sure how things would work, but I WAS thinking it was odd Vegapunk had died when his brain is literally inside a jar, still functioning and running Like logically you'd think that Vegapunk's conciousness was still technically inside his gigantic brain, and so even if the rest of his body perished as long as his brain works and can be connected to a new body he'd technically be okay. Or at least that's what I HAD been thinking. But then when Vegapunk supposedly died and the whole "where is your conciousness" was mentioned, I figured, maybe Vegapunk's literal soul (as those exist in this universe) isn't in his brain (maybe in his heart instead) and he really did die, the brain being literally nothing more than a supercomputer (made of flesh) with unfanthomable amounts of information stored in it

But no, my innitial thought was kind of right. Cloning exists in this world and Vegapunk can be brought back with the help of that, that's neat!

The take that this is an evil shanks twin is very funny but God do I want normal shanks 2 just Be Evil . Although showing him playing Satan circle is a little much

A quick late-night One Piece post.

The new One Piece chapter got me wanting to reread this page of 1134 again to remember some of my thoughts from the time.

It seems that the current situation of Shaggy here is that they are safe, being "almost as bored" as Loki.

Whatever threat was an issue for Shaggy, there seems to have been an enemy strong hold or something along those lines involved. "It" is something that could potentially have been razed to the ground.

And it sounds as if the enemies of Shaggy are in a position where they may hypothetically return, but apparently have not. With Shaggy having time to be bored, they are probably not especially worried about the enemies returning. It is tough to say for sure though.

Luffy, dressed like an Elbaph warrior, speaking (and standing!) like a Yakuza oyabun sure is a thing that happened?!

Ahahahhahahashahahahah WHAT. I. Luffy. His rubber brain just switched straight into "polite gratitude, but keep it gangster"?!?! ... honestly this is why I push myself to read One Piece in Japanese even if my understanding isn't 100%, because there's literally no way of translating the VIBES of this moment.

Same, Robin, same. Tears in my eyes at both the majesty of that library, but also of Ohara's precious knowledge being SAVED. ;____;

And big. See. That part... Something about the library makes books big. But doesn't it also seem likely that something about Elbaph itself makes things (including living things) gigantic. It takes time, but what was that warning? Don't linger too long, huh...

DON INDEED!!! WTF. No seriously WTAF. It's so hard to stop and not peek at the next chapter (or next page I can find with this mysterious hooded figure (who LOOKS familiar but it's the wrong side profile to be absolutely sure of course so I'm very AHHHH) who can teleport like the Gorousei...!!!

I spent some time checking a few chapters in Japanese, and am more certain that Shaggy/Mosa is not Shirahoshi.

In 956, she's still using "様" "sama" to refer to everyone. Garp is "Luffy sama no Ojii sama," "Luffy's grandfather," with the "sama" being written in Kanji.

In 1151, Shaggy refers to Loki as "ロキさ" or "Loki sa," before the sentence is cut off. Shaggy was likely going to refer to Loki as "Loki san" ロキさん with the "sa" being written in Hiragana.

In general, I'm skeptical that Shaggy heard the Vegapunk broadcast. The info in that feels like something Shaggy would tell Loki about, if they heard it... yet there are no hints that either knows about the broadcast.

I gathered the details we know about Shaggy so far.

-Is currently busy for an indeterminate amount of time.

-Recently went through a traumatic experience.

-Initially thought Loki’s voice and words were fearsome.

-Knows Loki has some kindness.

-Is potentially someone who Gaban, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Chopper would recognize the voice of. They were all nearby when Shaggy called in 1151, though Oda had them not hear the voice.

-Had enemies who occupied a place and wanted them to be dealt with, though wasn’t seeking total annihilation of the enemies.

-Those enemies have been partially dealt with now, though not entirely, and seemingly have the potential to return for vengeance.

Yeah so the “fake shanks” is probably not the Shaggy person that Loki was talking to. But this was the first thing that came into my head after reading the chapter. At the same time the names Shanks and Shaggy do have the same three letters at the beginning?

Yeah I suck at drawing but that’s ok. I did draw this on my phone. I also messed up the lairs so that’s why his eyebrows are on his hair. He also looks a bit too kind but oh well this is just crack drawing.
