Luffy's Healing Touch
And checking back in on these two. The smashed dartboard and Yamato's back turned say a lot about the complex relationship here and I do like that a lot as a subtlety of his character. Especially with Ulti, I always got the vibe Yams is really jealous of Ulti. Both for having a little brother and what seems to be a much more relaxed parent/child relationship with Kaido. Like, they're still practically siblings too but there's a lot of animosity both ways by this point. I'm not going to leave you tied up but that's it.
Likewise there is so much emotion in Ulti cradling Page One. In all honesty this is one of the best pure pages of the cover serial so far even if I'm getting a little tired of Udon and ready to see what's next.
I didn't post anything about chapter 1144 because the only things I could think of were that mothers were mothering (Nami, Robin, Lilith and the pretty giant, I keep forgetting her name) and that Bonney is my child but! ☝️🤓 let's talk about chapter 1145 (mostly stupid shit).
THEY DID THE THING AGAIN, THE INMENSE JOY THIS BRINGS ME IS EMBARRASSING. I would like to remember everyone Zoro & Sanji vs Groggy Monsters is unironically my favorite One Piece fight.
Sanji, please, continue throwing Zoro around so he can hurt something. Thank you.
It's difficult to know, I guess we won't know until the anime, but I think it's Zoro the one talking about Zeus and his relationship with Nami. Nice 🙂↕️
LMAO
This whole thing with Luffy trying to give Loki food and something nice to drink and almost killing him in the process was so funny and it reminded me of when he tried to give sake to Zoro so he would feel better in Thriller Bark while he was unconscious. Nami truly saved Zoro back then sjdsjdjs.
Now the only serious part about this review, what a interesting revelation! So Rocks crushed Loki's dreams some time ago, very definitely worsening Loki's already terrible personality.
And I finish saying my blood run cold with this panel, thank fucking god Jinbe is there. Nothing much happened in this chapter but some shit is about to go down.
Unravelling
Hehe, this is such a cute scene you forget it's absolute bedlam up above. The gang with Loki are tending to the giant's wounds, Luffy is trying to help, he makes things worse. Classic. But then he gets this cheeky lil thumbs up from Gerd for his efforts which makes it all so much better.
We'll get to the main concept from this part of the chapter in a moment but for now I just want to comment on how weird it is in the grand scheme of things. Elbaf has really shown itself to be a stranger One Piece arc in terms of story structure. We're on an island we've long awaited and have friendly relations established before getting there. Everything is going crazy in the boughs above due to interlopers in God's Knights. Meanwhile Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and for the first time since Dressrosa a Grand Fleet crew are down below...having the normal stuff for a One Piece arc. Unpacking someone with dubious motives and connections to the wider world.
