perona and ulti are often drawn together because they have bangs and are loud as hell but they also have warlord dad-captain-figures (we can only guess what ulti was like toward hanafuda but she and perona are both irreverent toward kaidou and moria WHO HAVE FOUGHT) and page one is kind of a kumashi so what i need to do is read or write ulti-centric fanfiction to form more solid/more grounded ideas of her since her only appearances are quite camp
like i'm in love with perona and have read almost all of the english mihopero tag as well as buckets of zosan featuring perona and the way i understand her is like... essentially soft-hearted, rough but caring, selfish and a bit cowardly but growing out of it, and i get at all that from her usopp fight -> the two year time skip and repeatedly helping zoro -> being truly grateful to mihawk
from yamato's cover story and the SBS answer about hanafuda... i would want a sort of "new beasts pirates" (i don't think they'd call themselves that) genesis where ulti and yamato triangulate about kaidou with some gender dysphoria afoot about what it means to be a daughter or a son. idgaf about page one tbh BUT ulti has what perona only has fanonically: a little brother. so ulti also gets eldest daughter/"heir" angst that would require me making up some stuff about hanafuda. also hi ace... how would ulti and page one feel knowing yamato's friend defeated their father
like it is such a shame that the wind at ECI was Like That . we coulda had some interesting games but instead we got That.
