One piece chapter 841
This is a really long one. If you do read it, I’m flattered.
First of all, this chapter was just really sad. I think this chapter just made Sanji’s backstory the most tragic, because in Robin’s backstory she was left alone because her family and friends wanted her to live. In Sanji’s case, he was left alone because his family wanted him to die. In addition, Sanji’s backstory looks like some of the others too. Chopper was abandoned because his nose was blue. Sanji was discarded because he was born wrong. Franky was abandoned too but I don’t know why.
Here we see Sanji making food for his mother. In the last 3 panels we see Sanji pulling his coat over his face because he thinks he failed. This shows the whole abuse that was did to him. Sanji really believes he is worth nothing at this point. I think he is making food not only to make his mother feel better, but for him as well.
What I meant when I said he is making the food for himself is in this picture. Ever since they started training, Sanji was bullied, mistreated and mentally abused. His biological father said that he is worthless and a failure, and he should have never been born. I think the only thing that made Sanji’s mentality survive all that is him cooking for his mother. That was his only salvation from all the cruelty and abuse. He wanted to be recognized by someone. He wanted someone to say he did a good job. He wanted to be worth something. I think that is why he wanted to be a chef. Not only to honor his mother, but to recreate the love his mother gave to him. I think this is why he overreacts every time Nami is prasing his food. Cause Nami’s comments worth more to him. In my sannami ship view of course.
I remember reading Oda saying that Sanji should’ve been named Naruto, and I think this is one of the reasons why he didnt show this the first time Sanji was introduced. To everyone who watched Naruto and understood how cruel Naruto’s life was. We can relate all that to Sanji. The difference between Sanji and Naruto is that Sanji had his mother to recognize him. But his mother died, and because of that I will say he is also similar to Sasuke. Because Itachi made Sasuke believe he wants to kill him. Kinda the same how Jaji wants to kill Sanji, but this is just my speculation.
I really hated reading this. Here is Jaji saying that he can’t get rid of Sanji because his “humanity” stops him. HE ACTUALLY BELIEVES HE IS THE VICTIM HERE. He really thinks that it’s Sanji’s fault that he can’t do what his siblings can. I despise this man. I really just want him to outright have a slow and painful death, but that won’t give Sanji closure. Because I know if Sanji kills Jaji in cold blood he would feel guilty and be scarred his whole life. He is naturally a good person. He remained being that way even after all the cruelty he suffered. He has to confront Jaji to move on with his life.
This one really just broke my heart. In here, Jaji makes it clear that he wants Sanji out of his life. I think Sanji was hoping a little that Jaji would stop him. That he would at least show a little affection or any sort of love from his father. That he at least felt something. But all that was crushed. my heart ached when I read that loud cry from Sanji. Its like I can hear it. I can hear the pain and loneliness. I really am just amazed how One piece can make me feel like this. Its the same thing when something happy happens in One piece. I think what I mean is “Its amazing how One piece can make my whole body feel joy or sorrow.”
I wanted to add this picture just for that panel below of Sanji looking up as his brother. Just by seeing his eye(s), I feel like I can feel the sadness and pain he suffered, and that affects me not only as a fan of One Piece and Sanji but because I’m a human being. Because I know for a fact, that mental pain does more harm than physical pain.
Also I added this picture because I wanted to confirm if the ship Sanji rode to escape and the one that Zeff robbed is the same ship.
I wanted to show this to state the main reason why I think Sanji’s backstory is the most tragic. So here how Sanji’s story goes.
After escaping his abusive family that wanted him dead(except Reiju), He gets on a cruise ship that gets robbed by pirates. He almost starves to death, and then finds out that he ruined somebody’s life. That Zeff sacrificed his dream and his future to save Sanji. Then he lives the rest of his days in guilt trying to repay what he has taken. He has been mentally suffering all those years. I think he never had real freedom until he met Luffy. Cigarettes are stress relievers right? Every time we see Sanji he has a cigarette in his mouth or hands. He has been struggling all those years.
If you got this far, I’m really flattered.
“One day... you’re definitely gonna meet people who’ll treat you the way you deserve to be treated!”
This chapter fucked me up
Wish she could see him now ♡
