We got back our boy, BUT AT WHAT COST?!
we were all here hoping for Sebastian to show up and slaughter all this cultits assholes and then chapter137 came out and remembered us that he is no hero whatsoever and he is actually a manipulative jerk that tricked a 10year old boy into believing he had something to do in his brother’s death.
I really like what Chapter 137 has introduced. It's brought the Black Butler tone back to it's fairy tale roots. A child makes an irrevocable unintended wish.
Bocchan never struck me as one who would intentionally do something so bold as summon a demon. This is a very important piece to the puzzle of who he is. He's genuinely horrified and disgusted with what he's done, and also placing blame on himself, survivors guilt but something more than that...
He's driven to acting how he thinks his brother Ciel would or how others would want him to and feels trapped into accepting the demons offer
"I'll be your slave until the day that your wishes are fulfilled and I devour your soul".
In a psychotic fit fueled by fear, grief and rage, the poor kid accepts.
The amorphous dark mass that has so far been changing into snakes, insects, lizards and dozens of monstrous beasts slowly forms into a beautiful but awful man. The fact that Bocchan doesn't give his real name to him shows that he already knows about giving such creatures your name. He's read so much already. I always wondered if that wasn't why Sebastian couldn't possess him more than he already has?
Sebastian's human form, he looks like a composite of the dead father and mother, but also perhaps cruelly, it's my opinion he looks like Bocchan's future self, what he would have grown up to be.
He's also everything Bocchan wants to be and hates about himself. Sebastian is what Bocchan fears. Fear is what drives their relationship more than the desire for revenge. Otherwise the threat of being eaten wouldn't work so well.
Fear of himself also plays a role, he doesn't like himself but he's come to like some aspects of his current situation and does not want to give it up and feels guilty for it and still trapped. I always got the feeling he was still waiting to be rescued from himself.
It makes scenes like this extremely bitter sweet and cruel feeling for me.
Anyway, just the thoughts of a 33 year old poet/writer still in school.
Uhm,Sebastian,just what are you?
A bird?
A snake?
A dog?
Every animal with tentacles on high heels?
Just...decide your form already.
When Yona kissed Hak? It felt like I was more shocked than Hakkkk! I literally stopped and waited for almost a minute before I was able to tap to the next page! Hahahahaha! That was one hell of a ride! :)))))
