So we said our Eid prayers at #Khaplu yesterday and had wonderful privilege to see oldest mosque in #Baltistan. Under the stewardship of a #Sufi order of #Nurbakshi they apparently have an amazing detail in their #architecture. Another interesting element is how they do all of their work through community coming together. So no paid labour work on their projects. #Chaqchan mosque in itself used to be a #Buddhist temple people of the area converted it into mosque good 800-1000 years ago. Chaqchan-Khanqa however was really an interesting sight since it was the biggest wooden support hall I've ever seen. Had a chance to have a good discussion with the Imam of the Khanqa who gave details about the Sufi order. Then today started the trip back home by reaching #Gilgit. If all goes well, should be sleeping in #Islamabad tomorrow. By the way have you ever tried Walnut Tart? #travel #log #Pakistan #GB #GilgitBaltistan #food (at Chaqchan Mosque)
