The guiding light character system.
This is a narrative system built around ideas of Jungian psychology and thus pulls heavily from it.
This narrative system is used to help create a character through three different aspects. The core, the back, and the arrow. These three aspects help create characters if you're someone like me and struggle with it.
Let us begin with the core.
Cores are the center point of the characters of self, where a character is established with a personality, this aspect has three divergents.
Red: The combatants. Characters who have this core are head strong and charge forward no matter the pain they suffer. However they are also a little reckless and somewhat selfish. These cores are best counterparts with the blue as they balance each other.
Blue: The intellectuals. Characters with this core are focused on the reasons of the world, being careful to view the world and any situation they participate in. However in certain cases they must be balanced out by the yellow core.
Yellow: The comedian. These characters are focused on the people around them and what those people, wanting to please them and ensure the people they love are safe. These are balanced by the reds due to the value of themselves and others.
Now we come to the back, the back is the habits, the unspoken truth of a character, and what they are behind the core.
The back has three divergents
White: the Guardsman. These characters have habits that tend to show when someone they care for is in danger, usually being protective out of instinct for the people around them. These are balanced by black.
Black: the Buccaneer. These characters are those with aggressive habits, not inherently cruel or violent, just aggressive, these characters tend to act with force out of habit, and are balanced by grey.
Grey: the Runner. These characters have habits of fleeing, neither aggressive or defensive. These characters tend to move to get away from problems. These are balanced by white.
Finally is the arrow; these are the mentalities of a character. These tend to be shaped by the core and back so these are more vague.
Green: the Nurturer. These characters have a mentality of care and tend to be either guides, parental figures, or just Wisemen. These are balanced out by purple.
Purple: the Armor. The characters have a mentality of sacrifice and honor. These are characters who protect as many as they can to the best of their ability, even if it kills them. These are balanced by orange.
Orange: the Trickster. These are characters who have a mentality of lying and deceit to gain what they desire. They will trick, they will cheat, they will lie all to achieve their desired outcome, whether good or bad. These are balanced by green.
These combinations create a character's “guiding light” or more accurately, their moral compass. Each combination is unique and with 27 of them there is practically an endless wellspring of character ideas all for your choice.
However you can also choose to only use the core and the back if you prefer a small pool of character types.
Now there is one last thing. There are three types of deviations that can be applied to these combinations. These deviations are demonstrated by symbols.
Swords: those with this deviation are more straightforward and combative, focused on achieving their goals. However this combativeness can be a problem if they refuse to aim. They will require people who help bring them down to the ground and think about how they want to accomplish their goals.
Wands: these beings who have this deviation are a lot more creative and tend to think outside the box, however they shrink at the sign of conflict.
Coins: people with this deviation are more about gain, focusing on the practicality of life and what serves to benefit their gain, while not inherently selfish it isn't wrong to say sometimes they can be self centered and require a touch of creativity to put them in a perspective.
This is not meant to be used to study psychology, because the human psyche is far more complicated. And cannot be boiled down to archetypes. However with this system only can attempt to mimic the depth of a human.
