OC Development Question of The Day - 4/25/26
Inherent Good
Does your OC believe people are inherently good or bad? Neutral? Why? How much is nature vs nurture?
Short one, but it is a heavy one if you get into the why

(1) Thank you for creating Annemarie. You probably only ever hear this in the context of her being a hot evil bitch because people like those, but, that's not why I am saying that. I am saying that because her existence is important. Because, well, when was the last time anyone portrayed a sexually abusive female character for anything but a quick laugh? Including her I can name two, and the other one exists entirely off-screen in a backstory of a character from an unfinished project of one
artist I know. She is important because someone who saw her can identify those kinds of behaviors in real people. And it's real hard to identify that in women because the media tells us it doesn't exist or shouldn't be considered serious because "everyone attracted to women wants sex anyway" and other bullshit. People need to know that women can still objectify, fetishize, manipulate and abuse. Sure, statistically men outdo women by a lot in sexual abuse, but if we don't know abusive womenexist, they stay in those relationships and get hurt. And if some anti is going to scream at you again because "no abusive relationships in fiction should exist ever!!!" or "how dare you all women are angels!!!" then they need to consider the following - I probably would still be with my extremely toxic ex sitting there not knowing why do I feel so shitty and empty after each time we have sex and still have her call me, a trans guy a "sexy Russian girl." Because she was sneaky andmanipulative and I was, young, stupid and bought into her image of small, helpless girl whose string of previous bad relationships was always the dude's fault and not hers. So, yeah, a fictional horrible woman's existence helped lighten the damage from a very real horrible woman. Thank you, Father Claude for Annemarie, and I bet I am not the last person her existence is going to help.
She is indeed a hot evil bitch.
(I apologize, I deflect with humor when I feel any emotion at all.)
On a serious note, thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry you had to deal with that and glad that that person is now an ex part of your life.
You’re very right, women can abuse horribly, including sexually -- anyone can, regardless of gender identity, genital configuration, sexual orientation, anything -- and nobody’s helped by pretending otherwise.
I am glad what I make helps. A friend (and de facto spiritual advisor at this point) talked to me once about the degree to which I underestimate myself and observing the true scope of my influence. I say this not to turn the spotlight on myself but to say that you reaching out to me like this -- the hundreds of people who reach out to me over all the years, who come to me and say “thank you” -- helps me slowly but surely better observe that scope. So I want to say to you: thank you for reaching out. You took several moments out of your day to share something very personal and very moving with me. That is a lot. That means a lot. So thank you.
OC Showcase
65 followers, yall! I want to do something special as thanks.
For only a little while, you may use my ask inbox or submission inbox and talk about your oc! I can give tips or advice, or general thoughts I have about them. If you're struggling with a specific aspect, say so! I'll do my best to help. And, they will appear on this blog for others to see :3
Status: Closed as of the 28th
And these will come out a bit later so this post has visible time before being buried!
This is typically not my usual post but I am making a new series and I would like for my fans(or random strangers) to go into my Tumblr inbox and tell me how they feel about racism or how it affects them personally!
Anon asks are always welcome but you are free to go into as much detail as youd like. As long as you are comfortable with it.
The story I am creating is about self acceptance and understanding. However I myself am white so I of course will never experience the racism other's may experience. But instead of guessing and making up things, I would like for others to please tell me their stories. I will not use anyones stories for my work and will solely use them for my own education on the topic and will use it for the purpose of learning how racism may affect someone.
Other things you may send me are;
How it feels to witness queerphobia or to be shunned for who you are
What it's like to be judged for being mentally ill or disabled
How you feel about how modern day characters are written ( especially poc and queer characters.)
Or you can come into my dms and tell me personally how you feel! Either is accepted.
does anyone know any blogs that give feedback/constructive criticism on character designs?
i need to know if my designs are good because i really want to make a video game with some of my characters and ykyk
